"I plan on removing myself once you understand something," Jack moved closer, not enough to crowd her because he isn't that kind of a man, but enough to be able to lower his voice so only Me can hear him. "I don't like it when my friends are insulted. Keep any issues you have with me between us and leave everyone else out of it. You may think you know what suffering is, but talk to me again once you've been buried alive for 2,000 years by your own brother and maybe I will cut you some slack. You don't know the real me, Rose Tyler and the Doctor do to an extent and I will do anything I can to protect them even though I know they can protect themselves. That is what love and devotion is."

He steps back and grins at her but there is none of his normal charm behind it. The smile is cold and hard. "I'd say it was a pleasure to meet you but I think that would be an understatement so I'll simply say goodbye and I hope maybe we can get passed our issues though I doubt it."

And with that Jack is gone with a swish of his greatcoat off to find a good stiff drink.
