[The bubble-hover-car stops at the box, next to the bar, and she lets it down slowly, before fading off like Wizard of Oz good witch Glinda bubbles, making it so they're both standing before she grabs Jack's hand and takes him inside.]
'pparently the Doctor of that future....
Oh Jack...
[Sighs. And bends another bubble, this one intangible but to prevent any eavesdropping, unlocking the door, and leading him inside.] He really is a mess. Not thinkin' right. Even beyond just makin' her immortal. He didn't take her travelin' before that like me and you, and I dunno. Lady Me has Clara who died for him, from the TimeLords, on such a pedestal I can't tell what's right, but she got him extra life, past what even TimeLords are supposed to have. I don't think he likes it. Um. That's understating it. Just a tad.
[Shields her face with one hand, drops off at the Steampunk Kitchen to make tea and quickly put some cat food for a dish labeled "None" and another for "Brie" respectively.]
The Doctor who's been in Nautilus the longest is Fluffy. Ten. He's the oldest of himself, and the furthest along other than Me, but he's convinced Lady Me is from an alternate universe. That the TimeLords just got it wrong about TimeLords not having alternate universes...
This is though, yeah?
He thinks that because there's this pony version, and in the universe Sunset went into... so Sunset's a pony but she traveled through a magical barrier to another universe where she got turned human. [Giggles.] I know that sounds mad, but trust me. We all had a storm where we got turned into ponies too. Four got injured just before that by a zombie unicorn and 8 looked after him and made him eat tons of oats and hay and barley and I guess apples. He's sick of apples now. [Giggles, and hands Jack a cup of tea before remembering, snapping, and changing it to coffee. BENDING IS CONVENIENT AF OKAY.]
[And she just digs out a bottle of bandy and hands the whole thing to him, before leading him to the igloo in the snow room.]
But Sunset saw me and the Doctor in the human universe, as Ten and I are now, but then pony versions in the pony universe.
Thing is though, I think... that was me. And Bad Wolf. He also, the pony version, wears Four's scard, and acts a bit like 9 too and just... [Huffs.] 9 says he could see me doing that. [Shrug.] Given what I did to you...
So 10, Fluffy, thinks that proves it's another universe that Me is from, because he intends to just regenerate into this body over again. Four said that it was insanely dangerous to attempt, and vain as hell -- even for him, besides, but -- [Rose rolls her shoulders, and digs out the the first cubby in a cyborg tree, specially made to generate the snow that never accumlates, oxygen too, but survive on the artifical starlight above.]
[In said cubby: is a small treasure trove of picture albums and links saved specifically for Jack, as well as a plushie of 9, and a mini toy sonic screwdriver, just like Rose's, with "Bad Wolf" along it.]
He was so scared when he found out that it could be his universe, our universe, he asked me to take the memories out of his head for him. [Serious nod looking Jack in the eyes.] And I did. And I'll do it again if I havfta. Whatever it takes.
[Shoves her hands in her pockets and leads along the frozen "spinny rapids" river, towards the igloo.]
Lady Me has no idea, of course. He doesn't even know there's things missing. Wouldn't work if he did. I sealed it off, in case something ever comes up, put in a few failsafes, but... [Rolls her shoulders and crawls into the igloo, spreading out and waiting for him to join next to her.]
It's not upbringing with her.
At least she didn't completely lose track of that the Doctor might never forgive her if she just started being a homicidal maniac, but she bragged about bringing in cybermen and giving them haven, and others scared of the Doctor. Pickin' up the Doctor's leftovers and left behinds she called it.
It pisses me off. [Rolls up her side propped up via one arm.] And it scares me.
The worst he gets is from guilt. 'm pretty sure that's why he made her immortal. Using her, and felt guilty that she died on his watch. Pretty sure... I don't know what happens after I find Donna and him with Bad Wolf again, Ten doesn't even think I will, and it's why I want to drag him back to our universe with me just for a bit, just to prove it to him, but whatever it was that makes Lady Me think I'm dead? I'd put twenty pounds that he's tearin' 'imself up with guilt about it.
Guilt about the Time War, guilt about losing me, guilt about leaving you, guilt about everyone who's ever died on his watch. And Oswin basically said that's what happened near as she could tell.
[SIGH.] And rather than fixin' that, or just makin' it not so severe... Lady Me seems determined to push it as hard as she can. Thinkin' she can use the guilt to her advantage.
'S nuffin to do with upbringin' Jack.
I'll grant you she can't remember who she is... or was. But she doesn' push people away just because she doesn' know better. She does it because she says we're all like smoke and mayflies.
It's funny. Um.
[Thinks it through carefully. What Four entrusted her with, and whether it's all right to share.] Four got mad at Ten treatin' him like he's already dead and gone, right? [Slight wince.] But Lady Me treats everyone like that.
[Shakes her head.] I know why I can't get along with that. But it's worse. I get prickly around her. Rose-cactus, all thorns, no blossoms or healing power. It's my defenses, but I always more about cutting her. I know she wants to hurt me but if anything... I just have to be indestructible, like I said. And the Doctor? Can't know or he'll lose it. I only told Four teeny tiny parts of it, and he's still...
[Rubs between her eyes.] Ten knows I fight with her, there was no hiding that. She made it obvious too. She always tries to get under my skin. Brings up his future wife, River Song, or Clara, of course, just on and on about me not being good enough. [IMPISH GRIN, and slinks into her short sleeve hoodie some, still grinning.] Last time, it was on the network here, so I just told her, let's have it out then. She called me a dirty-minded slutty child basically, so I just took my shirt off for the whole network. [EVIL GIGGLE.] Worth it. Shut her up good. She hasn't spoken to me since. Never been so peaceful.
[ALL THE EVIL GRINS.] Freaked out my baby bros though, oops.
But she's just so... opposite you and me.
UGH and she called deaths beautiful.
[SHUDDERS.] She has this weird sick fascination for them! Reminds me of Noosh.
I mean I guess I can't blame her for getting a little obsessed, but it's not healthy. And she doesn't get where it's a bad thing. Or even just something the Doctor can't be near.
no subject
It's what happened between then that--
[Shivers.]
