"Nautilus. It's a subconscious universe." Which now will tell Ten something at the very least.

Realizing he's pronounced the name of the place wrong doesn't bother him, honestly. It's not the first time he's wound up mangling a word or a name that he's not all that familiar with, and it won't be the last. It's the rest of what's said that gets his brow to furrow ever so slightly before he decides that it's probably just going to be easier if he pretends like he understands how a universe could be a subconscious thing. He doesn't, not really, but he's had plenty of practice at making it sound like he knows what's being said even if it's a concept that's more than a bit over his head.
"Oh, aye. One of those."
It may or may not tell Ten what he wants to know, but for Jamie's part now that he's gotten that out of the way, he can focus on finding out other things. Things like why that faint buzzing sounded so oddly familiar - and he gestures at the sonic.
"And that? For a moment I thought I heard...och, never mind, you'd think I'm daft for saying it. It's some sort of wee machine that makes lamps brighter, though. I can see that much. What do you call that, then?"
no subject
That sounds like Jamie either is or has traveled with The Doctor - but then Jamie was always good with covering things up too.
"Sonic screwdriver."
no subject
Like a sonic screwdriver that doesn't look at all like a sonic screwdriver to him, and he shakes his head.
"That's a sonic screwdriver? Och, you must be joshing. That couldn't possibly be one of those. I'd know."
no subject
"Hallo Jamie." Ten gives Jamie a big and wide smile.

Jamie's eyebrows arch up far enough that they wind up disappearing into his bangs for a few moments, but then they come back down again as he fixes the man with a look that's somewhere between uncertain and faintly suspicious. Something is definitely going on here. He's just not sure what it is yet.
"Now wait just a minute. I've not told you my name. How do you know that?"

Now, he's not so sure. Still, he's skeptical enough that he's not about to completely buy what he's being told. Especially the part about dying, which gets him furrowing his brows all over again.
"How you do mean, when you die? Look, if you died, you'd be dead. Not changing your face."
no subject
Someone is rather cheeky with this statement.
no subject
In a strange way, it's good to know that it's not something the Doctor's chosen to do on purpose - but the cheekiness means he can't quite resist a tiny bit of teasing in response.
"Aye, well, that's alright then."
It's fondly meant, though, even though he's still not entirely sure what it all means.
"How many times have you done this changing your face thing, anyway?"
no subject
A deep inhale before answering the next question; "Just - slightly over a half a dozen times since I last saw you."
If Jaime still has any doubt about the sonic screwdriver in Ten's hand; maybe those brown eyes that seem to have seen impossible things and also seem to have gone through many hardships and joys but those eyes, even if they are brown over the blue; do seem to know who Jaime is as Ten stares back.

His brow furrows once, twice, and then he finally closes his mouth again. It doesn't stay closed for long, however, as he finds himself running the tip of his tongue over his lips to moisten them. There's no doubt left that is the Doctor - but that's a lot of times to him, and for a moment he can't help but let it show.
"That...that many? I-" He breaks off, then, and shakes his head. "I don't want to know how, do I."
no subject
"No." With a whisper and then back to normal volume; "Alright, Jamie. Tell me how you think what or how Nautilus works."
no subject
He's still trying to wrap his mind around 'The Doctor has different faces', after all - and that's been enough of a distraction that he hasn't given the idea a lot of thought. Still, if the Doctor's comment earlier about being stuck here is true then he has the sneaking suspicion he's going to find out one way or another. Might as well have a go at starting that now, then, and he taps a finger against his lips thoughtfully.
"You said 'subconscious' earlier. So does it have something to do with that, maybe?"
