[It is odd...and deep down Jamie is starting to get just a touch worried about it. It won't do to let that show, though. Not in front of Victoria - and with more confidence than he's actually feeling, he gives her a brief, but firm nod.]
You know him, too. If we don't he'll wind up in trouble right up to his neck before you know it. Where have you been so far? It'll give us a place to start.
no subject
Well, I— I mean, I've been mostly around here, you know? Looking about around this, um, place, for... clues. ( clues to what, victoria? ) How about you?
no subject
[Clues, that is. Some of those were bound to turn up at some point, surely. What sort of clues they might be, he has no idea...but for not he isn't going to worry about that. Not until they find the Doctor and figure out what's going on here. He motions with head back towards one of the streets]
I woke up over there a wee bit further down. The Doctor's not there, though. I know that much. So if I was there and you were here, then I'd say we should try one of the other ways. Maybe further in...whichever way that is.
no subject
( she glanced toward where he motioned and decided that based off of his guidance, logically, going there and then also remaining here wasn't going to get them anywhere closer to finding the doctor. much to her dismay, exploration was going to have to happen. of all the situations to wind up in... at least she had jamie with her. )
Shan't likely find much of anything going back that way, no. Alright then, Jamie. How about you lead the way and I'll stay close? ( really close. she might even cling if something were to happen. only time would tell! )
no subject
[It was up to him, like it had been before. Just like old times. And while there were's been times where he's wished just a little that he doesn't always have to be the strong one, this time he finds it doesn't bother him. Maybe it's because Victoria's here again and he's still just as determined to protect her as he did before.
Or maybe this time there'll not be as much to frighten her, although deep down he knows he won't be surprised if something does turn up. It always seems to, after all. For now, he glances around and then turns towards the east. It seems as good of a place to start as any.]
Right then. Let's try this way. I'll stay in front, keep an eye out.
[Although if 'front' turns out to be more side by side with him only being nominally in front, he's alright with that.]
Let me know if you spot anything though, eh?
no subject
I'll keep an eye out as well. ( spotting horrible things was her forté. ) Do you think the Doctor is around somewhere, though? I hadn't seen him in some time... How is he? ( he's old after all. how was he holding up? )
no subject
[Little does he know that's not strictly true. Unless or until he finds that out, however, he's just going to go with what he knows - which means he winds letting out a snort, one that's as fond as it is exasperated.]
Do you know that we nearly wound up being buried in lava? All because he was too busy gaping at it to realize it was heading straight for the TARDIS. Good thing at least one of us had the sense to say something before we wound up getting fried alive.
[That person being him, naturally, but he figures that part is obvious. Somewhat like the change that he notices as they work their way further east.]
Hey, look, those are canals, aren't they? Don't think I recall seeing them further back. Wonder why that is?
no subject
Wait, lava? Were you hurtling through a volcano or something? ( rather pleased that she missed that herself albeit concerned for their safeties, she was happy to know that jamie had managed to get the doctor back into perspective before something just awful happened. she set a palm to his arm to give it a soft squeeze in moral support despite not having been present for the ordeal in the first place. ) The Doctor is lucky to have you about with him, Jamie.
( and change things did! she raised her brows as he pointed them out, turned to look behind herself at the lack of them and then once more faced forward to look them over again. ) What a strange, sudden change in scenery. ( then again, most things were strange here, weren't they? they had just sort of popped in and that couldn't have been a good sign for "normal." ) I... I honestly wouldn't know, I wonder how that's even... ( possible? ) ... we were expecting this place to be at least a little droll, weren't we? I hope this is as "bad" as it gets. ( she wasn't too hopeful though. )
no subject
Aye, well, given how we've turned up here...
[He's not going to hold his breath. Still, there's no sense worrying Victoria by saying that part of things. Instead, it's his turn to lay a hand on her arm and offer her some moral support of his own.]
Don't think there's anything to worry about, though. It's not like there's beasties here, eh? Just a few oddly placed canals. Besides, once we've found the Doctor we'll be able to get out of here anyway and get you back to the Harrises If...if that's still where you want to go.
no subject
he wasn't about to hold his breath and neither was she. even knowing that the surrounding areas might be a little bit off kilter with normalcy, victoria found herself starting to fret in spite of his hopes that she wouldn't. his touch was appreciated but her nerves were already beginning to rattle. how odd was too odd for this place? she only hoped that it wouldn't end up with them facing any beasties as he liked to call them. she covered his hand on her arm with her own and gave it a squeeze. )
R- Right, too right, no beasties to be seen. Just strange surroundings, nothing more. ( she laughed a bit nervously. and yes, once they got to the doctor, wherever he might be, she would be able to go back home. and leave them both... again. a frown. she did want to go to the harrises, it was where she felt like she belonged now. but... ) I- I do want to go back there, I think they would be worried about me being missing, maybe. ( she bit her lip. ) Although, if it takes a trip or two to get back there, I suppose that I would be able to handle that. P- Perhaps, that is. ( it might be worth it to hang around the doctor and jamie again. at least for a little bit. nothing too hectic! )
no subject
As much as he's trying not to hope, though, her mentioning being possibly being able to handle a trip or two does wind up sparking just a bit of it in his heart, and he can't help but respond with a touch of enthusiasm.]
Aye, we can make the Doctor prove that he's actually able to fly the TARDIS for once! Besides, if you did, your room's just the way you left it. Zoe's using another one, so there's no worries there.
no subject
maybe.but she did want to go back home to the harrises. they were her family now and she would ( and did ) miss them dearly.she raised her brows, though. it wasn't so much the idea that the doctor could ( maybe, finally ) actually fly the tardis where he wanted to but something else entirely... she scoffed, pulling her hand from his arm. zoe? who is this zoe person? ) Zoe? I see, I've already been replaced then, is it? ( well, that didn't take very long at all. stowing any jealousy
badly...she picked up her pace and ventured further, taking point without properly meaning to. zoe, pah. victoria rolled her eyes and pushed onward. all the more reason to hurry up and get home. boys weren't an issue there as she cared precious little for them. )Where's a bloody police box when you need one... ( preferably blue in colour. )
