"There's nothing wrong with a purpose that protects a life," Connor said and there's a break in neutrality. That time there's actual conviction because it is supposed to be his purpose.

"My purpose is to investigate the dangerous crimes and take the hit so a human doesn't have to. My purpose is to help and protect, and I am fine doing that however it plays out." Except that's not what he's been doing. He hasn't been protecting anyone, just hunting down deviants. Maybe that's why he's been struggling. If he hunts down a human perp, killing is supposed to be a last resort.
