"Mondas," she said and frowned. She sighed, catching River's hand and pressing it close to her cheek, kissing her palm. "Mondas is where I died. Don't tell him if he doesn't know. He'll figure it out. Its not...its not a good day, but people survive. At least a while. Nardole was keeping an eye on them, and considering he managed to keep up with me, it's a while enough," she said. "He's the absolute worst influence on himself. I was kind of hoping he'd be a good one too." She was sure for a moment, sure that Missy would come back.
"It was pretty entertaining. I kept giving you so, so, SO many hints when you didn't know me. I thought I'd have to make a sign. What I get for interrupting you on a mission, I guess," she said. Really, she said why the TARDIS couldn't move, how much more obvious could she get?
Thirteen gives her a sheepish look and then pulls her into a hug, spinning them around a moment. "I lived a long time and I've loved a lot. Some names are hard to remember, some faces start to fade. But there's a few names, a few faces, where I know they'll be there, even when I finally have to stop. I know I'll be humming a song when that day comes, even loving people fiercely in the past and possibly the future," she said, a hand moving to her cheek and kissing her briefly. "Don't forget that, sweetie. I may have stopped running when there countless lives to save or I had no real choice, but I chose to have twenty-four years with you."
Twenty-four years makes it easier to say. And the words want to come out more. Too often she's kept silent and had to live with that regret. And River helped, she's sure of it. Helped make it easier to breathe this time around and she never wanted River to think those thoughts again. That she wasn't loved. The Doctor may not always be good at making that clear, but that didn't mean she couldn't try.
"I'm sure Brian will adjust. Did anyone ever tell you he's been on a few adventures with us? It's what started his traveling? Or did he travel before...? No, no, he was definitely Rory's dad and Rory had to adjust, so he DIDN'T like to travel, and then he flew a spaceship, and decided he'd try it out," she said, nodding her head. She was pretty sure anyway.
Thirteen whistled and followed along. "Honestly, the Master and one me can go real bad, let alone all the rest. This place is pretty tough," she said, squeezing her hand. "Not excite for Lady Me, but maybe this place can take her eternal life crisis. Rose though....oh. Huh. Hm. You know, I've seen you snog other people, but I don't remember you around me when I'm attracted to someone. Closest was when Amy had a thing for me, and honestly, that is REALLY WEIRD in retrospect." Even for her. At least it had been a one way street, or that'd be even worse.
"Honestly nine through eleven was a whole mess. Was starting to even out a bit more at Twelve, or maybe it just seems like that because I ran into Missy a lot? She throws off my whole scale," she said, waving a hand in the air. "But you love so, so much and knew a whole lot more, and I was having some control issues as Ten, you would be terrifying without enough of that 'I want to kiss the brilliant face' to counter it," she said, patting River's hand. "Sorry. I hope he didn't get too mean."
"Won't it though? And I get to join you on that, I still haven't even figured out what I like to eat beyond custard cream biscuits, but the TARDIS gave me that, so that's just cheating on the discovery part," she said.
