Re: Raphtalia | The Rising of the Shield Hero

Kid. In trouble. She saw that at the same time she took in the rest. She was trained to see everything, so it wasn't that she missed the shackles or collar, and she didn't miss the non-human aspects. And she very much did not miss that she was calling whoever the ****s she was looking for master.

But she was still Kaylin, and she was moving even before thought caught up.

Kaylin was always a bit of an odd sight for those who first saw her. Despite being an adult, she was short foot nothing. Her messy rough cut hair was twisted into a fast and sloppy bun that was somewhat held in place by a gnawed on stick. She wore a white linen shirt with buttons at the wrists to keep the sleeves closed, a leather jerkin, and a chainmail shirt under a blue and grey tabard that showed two soaring hawks - one picked out in gold thread, one in brown and gold beads that clearly had been added on after the garment was made. Her pants were the same kind of leather as the jerkin, though roughly mended to fix a gash under one knee and another along the other thigh. All of her clothes looked like it could use a good wash. And somehow even the chainmail looked wrinkled.

Her boots were thick soled and sturdy, and there was some dried blood under the laces. The belt that held the Tabard in place also held a dagger over either hip, two pokeballs, a small pouch, a water skin, a night stick, and some small lengths of thin rope. The belt itself had several artificial notches cut into it, though at the moment it was closed in one of the natural ones. She wore on one wrist what looked like a very expensive bracer of antique gold inset with three gems. And on her face was what looked like a delicate tattoo of deadly nightshade - a flower in bloom - across one cheek. Sitting on the shoulder furthest from that mark was a tiny flygon, that was in the process of chewing on her ear.

The woman slowed so as to not scare the child as she approached. "Here," she said gently. "I can help."
