Cad Bane | Star Wars/The Clone Wars

[The bounty hunter's red eyes are narrowed at the screen in contrast to the blue of his face. The sour expression lasts for just a moment before he regains his cool composure. The circumstances of his arrival were a mystery but he couldn't let it rattle him. He had to find out where he was first, then who had brought him here.]

Whoever has lost this communicator, you can pick it up by the large gate.

[Not knowing that there is one in each district, he assumes it is a recognizable enough landmark - and he hopes that whoever answers or comes to him will have some information he can use.]

[Well this is certainly a face Obi-Wan never expected to see again. But even as the Jedi responds, there's a look of amusement on his own.]

Cad Bane doing a good deed? Why I believe I've seen everything now.

[cadbane]

[The appearance of the Jedi brought an instant scowl to Bane's face. The last time he'd seen Obi-Wan it had been under a masquerade and as a betrayal. Was he the one responsible for his being here? Somehow that made a sort of sense.]

Kenobi...

[The disdain was obvious but he reined it in.]

I don't suppose this is yours then?

[Obi-Wan can't say he's exactly pleased to see the bounty hunter here either. But well, that's just how Nautilus worked, and he himself had nothing to fear from a new arrival. Besides, he could certainly think of worse people than Cad Bane.]

Actually, it likely belongs to you. Nautilus is generous like that. Even to the undeserving.

To me? I've never seen it before...

[He flipped the device over, causing the vision to spin for a moment before it rights itself again to show his face.]

Nautilus? Who is that?

[Well that's a bit dizzying to look at.]

The being who brings us all here. An Aeon who makes up the entirety of the city that you've now found yourself in.

[Despite their past, this Jedi is at least being cordial enough. He's willing to leave the past in the past, as long as Bane is.]

[For now he's also being civil. There wasn't any point in arguing over the network. Maybe something could be settled better in person but he'd bide his time. Unless there was some advantage in it for him, then he wouldn't be completely petty. He had to find out more about this place first and he isn't going to complain about Obi-Wan's being helpful - even if he didn't completely trust him at his word.]

Are you implying that the city is a living being?

[The lack of trust is certainly mutual. You can bet that Obi-Wan will be keeping an eye on Cad.]

So you're saying that this little... detour... isn't your doing? Some Jedi trick.

[How exactly, he wasn't sure, but it didn't hurt to try to confirm.]

[ Well, guess who doesn't look impressed. Right. It's this Sith Lord... ]

[Much dry sarcasm.]

Well, if you would kindly direct me to an exit, I will be on my way.

I tried to leave through the gate I arrived but it was blocked. Seems to be a one way trip only.

[ Which is pretty much his way of saying 'Go drown yourself in a river of mercury.' ]

Your master was so much more helpful than you, Skywalker.

[ Vader didn't respond verbally to this, but those yellow eyes narrowed dangerously. And if only for good measure, the Sith reaches into the Force next to seize the bounty hunter by his neck.

Because Force Choke greetings are the best greeting. ]

[Bane had an inkling of what the person he thought of as Anakin Skywalker was doing but but the Sith may be in for a surprise since the bounty hunter chuckled softly instead of gasping for air. You didn't deal with multiple Force users, many in the Dark Side, without being prepared. Not only was he mentally resistant to the Mind Trick, his breathing tubes had a variety of purposes - they did filter toxic air on certain planets but they also gave him some defence against Force choking. That might not be the case indefinitely, if Vader persisted with it, but for the moment it was having little to no effect.]

If you are trying to do what I think you're doing then it won't work, Jedi.

Well, you see that's where thinks get kind of interesting. You don't really need work, because you can bend everything you may need. They have shops and stuff where you can go get things, but you don't really need money or a job or anything like that.

[cadbane]

That all sounds a little... dull.

[He wonders what he could do with himself if everything really was so readily available to all. There must be some other way to bargain...]

[dull? Well that's a first. She blinks at him, surprised]

Well - that's the first time I've ever heard anyone call any of this dull. You must come from a very interesting world to consider this city dull.

There's always some business to take care of. Someone always wants something done - and I can do it.

[It sounds like confidence in his skills more than just a casual boast.]
