Because Bandwagons Beg to be Jumped

So I developed a Samus soundtrack, starting a while ago, but figured it would be fun to actually post. Some of it has to do with the wake, but a lot of it is just characterization through music, as that really helps me get the character down right. So, without further ado...

So here's the file download:

And I feel like I should explain my choices a bit, because it'll help those who don't follow my brain pattern.

1. Samus Strut

What is there really to say about this? This IS the badassery of Samus in musical form.

2. In This Divide

This really shows Samus' attitude towards Nautilus, and everything that happens here. It also shows how she takes most challenges, and overcomes them.

3. The Trick is to Keep Breathing

This takes an inside look into Samus' psyche. She's one messed up chick. She's been through a hell of a lot of pain and anguish, and has to deal with giving it to others. She tries not to let people down, but often times does because of who she is and what she's been through.

4. Sing For Absolution

This is probably one of the most important ones, at least to me. The only man Samus ever loved, Adam Malkovich, is dead, and no matter how much she tries to forget and let it go she can't. Her memory of him, within Nautilus, is constantly brought back when she encounters Robin Hood because of the whole 'Lady' thing. This song pretty much represents how much she misses him, and feels like his death was her fault and in the afterlife he blames her for it.

5. Discipline

This song sort of came to mind when Samus talked to TJ about not knowing what to do, but also because as a person she can't really stop herself. Once she gets into something, she often gets in too deep.

6. Sunburn

I really like the song itself, and I think the lyrics describe Samus, but I think the string version has way more emotion in it, confusion, and not knowing which path to take. Also, it has a 'running' feel to it, like going into action.

7. Eternal

I like to think of this as Samus' pondering music, on three levels. The first bit when she's in action, her mind is on the go, and she needs to get things done quickly. The second part is more brooding, angsting Samus. The third is sort of walking and thinking Samus, maybe at night under streetlamps. Whatever.

8. Starlight

Samus can't always be an angsty bitch, she has a lighter side too. In fact, it's the side she tries to show the most, so here's a light tune. The original lyrics are a love song, but I think the string version just has a playful feel to it which describes the happy Samus well.

9. Mutated Emperor Ing

This doesn't really have much to do with character development, but I like to think every epic battle uses this music. I mean, COME ON! IT'S FRIGGIN FANTASTIC!

So there you go, my Samus Soundtrack, and what I listen to when playing her. So...Now You Know?
