"Man, That sounds pretty rough there, Flash." Sounded like a long story too - he'd have to catch the abridged version of it sometime. "But for the most part, I'm your non-glowing brand of hedgehog. Can't promise anything about 'sticking to the ground' part though." Long sprawling jumps across wide open spaces were kind of his thing.

Sonic motioned out to the area surrounding the two of them, "This is Nautilus. Most people around here are the non-glowing ground dwelling types too." The next question was a little more difficult to explain, which coaxed a small shrug from the hedgehog, "Not really sure how I wound up here either, but it's not all that bad."

"It happens. But anyway, you seem cool enough. But, uh, however we got here, I think I'm kind of out of the loop on how I did the location hopping thing. The only portal that did that back home is closed, y'know? So this is kinda weird."

Only 'kinda', because at this point in his life things had hit the point where a talking blue hedgehog was in no way the worst thing he'd dealt with. Or even the weirdest looking.

It was pretty lucky that Sonic had a wealth of experience in matters of world hopping, Enough to give strangers an idea about what might have happened anyway. "If you had a door that closed, I'm guessin' it opened again. That's how doors and portals usually work anyway."

The hedgehog put a fist on his hip as he continued the explanation, "Back in my neck of the worlds you could travel through other zones like this one no sweat. Gettin' out of this one seems pretty tricky though."

"The portal only opens once every thirty moons. It's not supposed to just pop open somehow. And I wasn't anywhere near it. This doesn't make a lot of sense. And I kinda need to get back home. I have a math test today."

Among other things, but if he focused on the fact he was trapped here, he'd panic. And Flash didn't do panic.

"Math test? Like math math." Sonic couldn't help the mixture of disgust, horror, and surprise considering how it was implied that the math test was so much more important than a way cool adventure. What could be better than an impromptu trip to another world filled with danger, villainy, and the occasional chilidog?

"I dunno about your test, but maybe we could try and figure out what happened to your portal." Seemed like the best lead. And Sonic sure wasn't giving him a math test to replace the one Flash was missing. "Experience tells me that if some portal opened that shouldn't of opened, then there's probably some big bad guy that went and opened it which needs a good clobberin' before we can shut it again. You wanna check it out?" He held out his fist to Flash, which all he needed to do was fistbump to agree.

"Big bad guy - oh, no. Sunset Shimmer... and I'd hoped she'd really given that up." His expression fell as he fist bumped Sonic, looking serious. He'd like to give her the benefit of the doubt, but she'd tried to take over the world, and it was hard to overlook that fact. "If you see a girl with red and gold streaked hair, then, well, I think we have our culprit."
