[He is totally in control and not freaking out in the least. Because that would just not be cool. And he's also not talking to himself out loud, because he's totally a sane and reasonable individual]

....There's got to be a storm going on or something.

[ That would have certainly added to things, yes - the fact that this one was older and taller than the Kid Flash he had seen. Oh, and that it had also been Bart, though Barry didn't know his name.

Slowly enough (he wasn't the antsiest speedster around), he reached a hand out to the young man's shoulder to calm him some. ]

Well, it's this thing where the city gets all messed up for a week and people start acting weird- standard reality shift for this place, really- and-

As real as you are right now. [ Twenty he might have been, but that wasn't going to stop Barry from giving his shoulder a light squeeze as an attempt at comfort. ]

You- don't remember our last encounter do you? [ He was still running off the impression that this was the KF he faced off with. ]

You were kind of angry and running off with your... Titan friends.

[And despite everything, the gesture is so familiar it nearly undoes him.The]

[Vividly. Every day.

He swallows a sudden lump in his throat. ]

[ This should have been clicking as really strange for him, but- he was really just trying to focus on what was best for the kid (adult?). Barry drew back a bit, recalling that day. ]

I was chasing you down around the planet- had to keep you from lifting off into the atmosphere. [ And he added what would probably be one of the worst things he could say, though he was innocent of the implications. ]

I'd still like to get your name and get to know you. You shouldn't have to deal with your powers alone.

[He doesn't have long to be confused about the atmosphere thing before the rest of Barry's words sink in.

After about four (and a half!) years in one place, Wally was no stranger to people coming and going- to friends waking (or re-awaking) and not remembering him, or anything about Nautilus. He'd thought he made peace with that.

In any other case, it might have been true.]

[It was short pause, relative to the average person, before Wally managed a shaky:]

Had mine for a good long while, actually. No worries.

[He forced a shrug and tugged off his mask. He'd worn the suit once in two years- go figure the time he put it on again would be the time when-]

Wally. Wally West.

[He held out a hand, and it took a hell of a lot more than he would ever admit to keep it from shaking.]

[ Barry was finally starting to get things as they sank in; he saw how Wally reacted to the news, his revelation, unaware of it as he was.

His brow furrowed, and it furrowed further once he finally got the young man's name.

West? Did he say, "West?" ]

By any off chance... Are you related to an Iris West? [ Speedster. For a little while, Iris had abilities she had gained from the Speed Force- but the only relative of hers that Barry knew was... Daniel. ]

[Something shifted in Wally. Barry did seem younger than before... was he just from waaaay earlier?

But that didn't make sense with what he'd said about another Kid Flash. (Another version of himself?)

Only one way to find out.]

You know Aunt Iris?

[ This was starting to give him a headache. He reached up to rub at his forehead. ]

Yes, we're- friends. [ Once, they might have had the chance to be something more but that had been a little damaged.

Wait. Aunt? He was- ]

Wally. You're Daniel's son? Reverse Flash's son?

[He's about to ask about the nature of that friendship (totally not overstepping boundaries or anything) but his brain kinda. stops.]

Wait, what?

Who the heck is Daniel?

[...reverse.

What.]

No.

I don't have anything to do with any Reverse Flashes. Ever. At all.

[ Oh boy. As far as he knew, Daniel was Iris' only sibling. In his universe. And while he hasn't had any contact with other universes before, the theories aren't unknown to him. ]

Good. I mean- [ He really didn't know what to do here. ]

You're Iris' nephew. And you have a connection to the speed force. How are we... connected?

[A pained look crossed Wally's face before he managed the school his expression back into casual friendly welcoming and totally okay with Barry not knowing who he was.]

Kid Flash, dude. Sidekick? Former sidekick, I guess. I'm kinda retired.

[And you're kinda dead.

Only not. And if their old relationship was the price to pay for Barry's life, Wally would pay it one hundred times over. (Didn't make it suck less, though.)]
