[Eric huffs. He doesn't realize how deep Savik's going with gathering information and how vital it is for him to work with everything that's been said so far.]

[Wild gestures, some passion, clear frustration - all things people under real stress did. Telling people who were legitimately off from those who were stressed was hard, but oddly, most of this was leaning towards the side of sanity. There was just one problem: the words coming out of Eric's mouth.]

That's a long term goal. The best way to approach it is to sit down and examine the facts and try to figure out a plan.

[Not that he usually did the planning on anything. He was never the one giving orders. But he could probably get some hint as to what in the name of Tulok was going on if he just kept going with this.]

Okay. Okay, fine. We'll make a plan. Plans are tricky.

Plans aren't impossible, though. We just need to look at the facts - no speculation, just facts - and work from there.

Yes. Of course. But the more facts we have, the less overwhelming things will seem, the easier it will be to put together a coherent and foolproof plan.

Then...you're going to have to get some more info from some other people. I think they've been here longer than I have. I'm surprised they haven't gone off the deep end!

I haven't seen anyone else here so far. It's a bit unusual. [Yes, there is truth to the phrase 'it's quiet... too quiet'. He's seen that much in action.]

Huh! That's weird. Usually there's a good number of people popping up to help a guy out.

Really? [Thank Tulok one of them has military instincts and common sense.] Is this a dangerous area? If so, I suggest we get indoors immediately.

Right here? No, we're okay. But if you really want to head inside – and it's not a bad idea – I'd suggest the nearest Welcome House.

Let's look at this logically. [Any situation where Savik is placed in a position of authority is always a bad one. He's not really meant to take ahold of any level of authority. But he'll try to keep this guy alive.] If everyone seems to be missing, either something dangerous is nearby, or because they have another reason to leave.

[Hey, it's sort of like talking with his friend, Hank. Hank may have leadership skills, but he sometimes doesn't go into logical steps like this.]

Or they could not just populate one little area?

[Plus it's a thoughtful if practical solution; Eric does have his shield, but the chances of it functioning properly are slim.]

You stated yourself that there are normally more people than this present.

[Savik's interrogation skills are best applied when the other person is terrified, tied up, at the end of their rope or in pain. Usually at least two of the four. He's not very good at dealing with people on an equal level.]

Caution is always the best option.

[If Eric would have been clearer, things would have made a lot more sense. How about some frustration? Eric is good at that. He runs a hand over his hair.]

The city is huge! There aren't that many people walking around because it's normal?? Heck, I don't even think we make the rank in population density!
