[It's amazing how much more a femininely stern look can frighten him than a prison guard's fists. Armand pales, but nods, not looking at all like he'll argue now.]

[A pause to consider, then a rueful shake of his head.]

Lead on, miss. I am in your debt. I do hope we haven't far to go.

[That's really what Mary was banking on, so she's already taking the lead.]

Fortunately for you, we've not far to go. Now, that does leave us with plenty of time to become acquainted, at the very least. Your name, if you please.

Thank you, miss. [He stops a second, shaking his head.] Oh, pardon me. I'm such a dolt. My name's St. Just. Armand St. Just. Most people call me Armand. I don't mind, if it means they like me.

Armand is fine by me, then, Mad--Miss Poppins. So long as we treat one another well, I have no reservations considering you as a friend, if you would wish it. I have no other coin to repay kindness.

Then what I have of it is yours. I found--and shame to those who hoard it--that my store of it doesn't run out easily. If it did, I'd be hiding and moaning about going home. [Not to say, he might not to do some of that if he gets a little homesick in later weeks without mastering bending.]
