[ When the feed comes on, Aqua's looking rather... unsettled, unsure. It's not a feeling she enjoys, particularly, but she's looking for information. It's the only thing to do in a situation like this, after all. ]

Hello. [ A pause. ] My name is Aqua, and I'm looking for information, more than anything. I understand there's a reason I'm here, but I'm not certain why. I'd like to have that answered. Thank you.

[ And the feed cuts out. ]

[ Being in unknown places? That's nothing new. Usually, though, Aqua goes there willingly. And being here--it's certainly not of her own will. She has things to do, people to help, and being here... she won't be able to do any of that. Which explains her expression: concern mixed with confusion and a tinge of annoyance.

Her friends need her, and she won't be able to help them from here, not when she has no idea how she got here and how she'll go back. But, if you approach her, she'll treat you with kindness and patience, at the very least. ]

[foxtop]

[Well Shippo just happens to be passing by, contentedly licking a lollipop he made himself earlier when he spots her. The little fox pauses blinking a moment before he turns and walks over.] You look like you're lost. are you new here?

[prismbloom]

[ Oh, he looks just like a little kid! Aqua crouches down, hands on her knees. ]

I am. Would you be able to help me, or at least show me around?

[foxtop]

Well, I'm new too, but I've learned a lot already so I can definitely help you.

[Her thought is right on point. He is a little kid. He smiles brightly.]

This is Nautilus. We were all called here to protect the worlds by learning to Bend and then Ascending. We can even go home whenever we want to and no time will have passed. That's what makes it the easiest to deal with.

[prismbloom]

That's very kind of you. Thank you. My name is Aqua.

[ At that, her eyes widen. She can... go home? Really? ]

I had no idea we could. [ Aqua is getting ahead of herself, though. ] What is "bending"?

[foxtop]

My name is Shippo. Aqua is a nice name.

[Shippo nods. he had a hard time wrapping his head around the idea at first when he heard it.]

All you have to do is go back through the gate you came through,

[He makes another lollipop appear and holds it out to her.] Bending is kind of like a kind of magic that everyone can learn just by being here. You can use it to make and do pretty much anything if you can focus on it. And if you have any magic then you have to get it back by Bending.

[prismbloom]

Thank you, Shippo. It's very nice to meet you.

[ She takes the lollipop, her eyes wide with surprise. ]

That's incredible--all of it. Bending... it sounds like an amazing ability. Food is one of those things you can create, then?

[foxtop]

Yeah. But even if you can't Bend, everything here is free so you don't have to worry about going hungry.

[He turns and points.]

There's a market that way that has all kinds of things.

[prismbloom]

[ That's a relief, at least. Aqua glances toward the way he's pointing. ]

That sounds very convenient. It's really all free?

[ Because, honestly, as great as that sounds it's a little hard to believe. ]

[foxtop]

Yeah. So while you're learning, you can get everything you need. There is also a welcome house in each part of the city. I don't live in any of them though.

[Some time passes before a message is made. No image appears, but a voice is heard – deep, solemn, almost empty in tone.]

Has no one told you?

The simplest answer that is normally given is this: you were called to Wake.

[ It's... unsettling, that's for sure. Aqua isn't used to hearing such a hollow voice. But he's willing to help, at least in some way. ]

I've only just arrived. There was a voice that said something about waking. I'm not certain, exactly, quite what that means.

I can tell.

[That isn't very reassuring, but he at least tells the truth.]

You heard the voice of the city – Nautilus. This is where you are now. And you, like the rest of us, have a purpose here away from the world you once knew.

[prismbloom]

I suppose it's obvious, especially to those who have been here for a while.

[ At least he's honest. ]

A world with a voice. That's a new one. But a purpose--is it unique for each person?

[edge_of_nothing]

Indeed.

The purpose can be tailored specifically to each Wakened, yes...but there are a few goals to keep in mind. One is to keep the city from becoming stagnant. Another is to fix the flaws in other worlds outside of the city's grasp.

[prismbloom]

[ Well, that makes things easier for her. That's nothing new to Aqua. ]

I see. How does one prevent the city from becoming stagnant, exactly?

[edge_of_nothing]

Any way you can think possible. It is the City of Change, after all.

[prismbloom]

Allowing for many possibilities, then.

[ There's a pause. ]

Are there any areas of the city I should tread carefully in?

Each of the four districts will have their own dangers, but the Western District proves to be challenge for thrill seekers and the like.
