Red Alert let out a low, tired groan. "You have roaming, potentially rampaging monsters with free access to the city... and you're telling me attempts to corral them would be futile... and they respawn after being killed. What sort of pit is this place!? How often are the citizens of this city threatened by these monsters? Are you certain that forcing them outside the city limits or corralling them would be for naught?"

After a few moments, a red-and-white lamborghini tricked out with fire-chief decals and light bar rolled up to Medbay, stopping in front of where Rex was waiting. Red Alert was still unsure about a lot of this, but knew that gaining information about the city, and making sure that said city was safe was more important than any potential pranks. He just had to... trust that Rex was sincere about this patrol. He opened his passenger's door for the kid, revving his engine a little anxiously.

"Where shall we begin? What route do you usually take in these patrols? Outside of the monsters, what other things are we looking out for?"

Oh, questions, questions. Red Alert was sure going to have a lot of them, wasn't he? Fortunately, Rex was in a chatty mood that morning and more than up for answering whatever the Autobot came up with in terms of inquiries. Though he decided he'd best wait on getting to the latest ones until after they'd met up in person.

As Red rolled up, Rex stood with his hands in his pockets, goggles pulled down around his neck. When the door opened, he walked over and got in on the passenger side, already familiar enough with proper protocol in these situations to know that was where he belonged. After all, most Cybertronians preferred to remain in full control of themselves and being on the passenger side meant Rex was less likely to cause a problem, even unintentionally, like accidentally tapping one foot against the brake pedal.

"To answer your questions from before... Well, in summary, anyway? Nautilus basically does whatever he wants and we just sort of have to deal with it. If he wants Lunar Cry monsters and EVOs running loose on his perimeter, that's just how it works. Not that I necessarily like it that way, especially regarding the EVOs."

As he clicked his seatbelt into place, he glanced out the window. "Follow this street north until you hit the main road curving away from the plaza and then turn onto that, heading west. That'll take us out toward the border into the Western District, but if you turn north again along that border, you'll get toward the main road that circles the entire city. Driving along that, we can check the perimeter all the way around the north side.

"And outside of the monsters, we're looking for anything that's changed in some way overnight. You know, to make note of it. Most of the time, new stuff is harmless. Occasionally it isn't, though. Doesn't hurt to keep an eye out for anyone in trouble or for newly Wakened who just arrived, either. Anyone who looks like they're completely lost as they wander around is a definite sign to pull over and check the situation."

Red Alert sank down on his wheels and let out a low, frustrated moan. "How in the world are you supposed to secure anything, then?!" he whined. "It sounds like fighting against a river; all you can do is attempt to dam it, and it'll just find ANOTHER way around!"

After another stressed whine of his engine, Red Alert kicked into gear and started to drive north as Rex directed. "Well I'd better at least SEE as many as these monsters as possible, so I know what to deal with. Are you familiar with their patterns, weaknesses?"

His engine rumbled a little as he continued to listen to Rex talk. "'Changed'?" he echoed. "You mean the city itself changes? Things that shouldn't be there pop up? And yes... looking out for new arrivals is a very good idea." He certainly remembered how confused and panicked HE was when he arrived. "Are there people to contact who are experienced in introducting new arrivals to the city?"

Rex settled back against the seat as Red Alert began to drive, his fingers laced behind his head. This was a nice change of pace, someone else doing the running while he focused on just looking and listening.

"Oh yeah. I've fought most of them at least a couple of times before on training exercises out in the plains. Plus the EVOs are actually from my version of Earth. My job at home was to keep after them, get them out of populated areas if they ended up there, so I'm one of the people here who knows the most about how they behave and what they can do."

He nodded at the question about the city. "Yep, that's exactly what I mean. Entire buildings can show up here in not much time. They don't call this place 'The City of Change' for nothing, after all. As for new arrivals, we can direct or take any to the Welcome House and give them the usual intro guide."

As Rex settled down, Red Alert increased the sensitivity of his sensors as he turned onto the perimeter road, listening, looking for anything that might be out of place, or dash out into the road, and so forth. So far, nothing dangerous...

"Good. Can you fill me in on these beasts then: appearance, height, strengths, weaknesses? Where do we herd them to when they get into the city? How easy, or difficult, are they to manage?" He really wasn't looking forward to tangling with organic beasts like this. Oh, sure, he would do it, as part of his job and all, but 'wrangling with critters' was something that sounded more up Inferno's or Ironhide's alley.

Red's engine let out a little growl of frustration. "How can anyone get anything done when everything always changes around here?" he muttered lowly to himself. "Even keeping the MAPS up-to-date must be a headache. I've memorized the locations of each of the various Welcome Houses. It is a good thing that those are there. The guide as well. Is there anyone in charge of each Welcome House, to help, or for any questions the new arrivals might have?"
