Jed wrinkled his nose but didn't say much. Critter or not, Ice Bear was still a kid. No sense giving him guff. "Look boy," Hey he'd been in the frontier long enough to know animals were smarter than folk gave them credit for. Dexter was also a great example. "If yer Ma comes lookin', I don't want ter get snacked on. Once were enough, hear?"

And now he makes a face and points at the top of ICe Bear's head, "Boy what is that?"

There was no need to reply to what didn't apply to him. But he did reach up for his ear-headband and pulled it off so Jed could see. A cheap collar with two pieces of leather cut into floppy dog ears. He laid it on the grass around the cowboy.

He stepped back, covering his head on instinct when the collar came over. He put his hand on his hips and stared at it before getting close. "Now why'd anyone want ter make a bear look like a dang canine?"

He's tempted to take the leather though. For his size there were a good set a chaps he could get out of this. "So where ya coming from? A forest? A zoo?"

If Jed wants them then he can have them. Ice Bear doesn't really need the ears anymore anyway. He taps the collar and then points his paw at himself. He was the one who pretended to be a dog. Then he only shakes his head to both questions. He didn't come from either place.

"Now why'd ya go and do that fer? Yer a bear. Dunno what kinda bear, but yer a bear." His hands are on his hips again as tries to think where else a bear would be from. Okay...a bear with a collar and dog ears.

"Boy, are y'all some one's pet?"

Ice Bear nods, stomach growling as he waits patiently. Because Jed really just answered his question of why he'd do that. To be adopted as a pet.

There was no way Jed could miss that stomach growl. Sounded nearly four times louder to him than it would to a normal sized fellow. He frowned and look up, "Why don't we get some grub in yer belly. Then we can figure out a right proper name ta call ya. Fabio jus' ain't bear 'nuff."

That got Ice Bear on his feet right away. But then, who wasn't motivated by food when hungry? He'd even be willing to carry Jed on top of letting him pick a name. As long as he got a full stomach.

Whoa, still kinda shaky on this. Jed steps back but tries not to look to scared or worried. Just a cub, the critter is just a baby. A hungry baby but...he'd had plenty a chance to eat Jed and hadn't.

"Alright...I hate hitchin' a ride, boy but it'll be faster 'en you waitin' on me. Uh...ya mind?"

With a nod, Ice Bear picked Jed up again and this time deposited him on his back near the collar where he wouldn't slip. Then he looked back to see which way he was supposed to go.

Don't panic, don't panic, don't panic. He did tense though, he couldn't help it. Once he was settled (and far away from teeth) he pointed ahead. "Go right on over there, son. I'll let 'em know yer hungry and they'll give ya anythin' y'all want. No charge."

No charge and not waxy would be good. Ice Bear had no money after all. He turned in the direction that Jed pointed and walked that way. It wouldn't be a particularly bumpy ride at all either, so there was that too.
