Apprentice. Apprentice. It is, perhaps, a barbed comment, meant to wound the pride of any Sith. There must always be two, a master, and an apprentice, and he? He had his own apprentice to teach and nurture by way of his brother, Savage.

Even if he cannot defeat this Sith on his own at the moment, the knowledge that he has grown past the bonds of his master bolsters him. He is more than this worm before him will ever be by that alone.

"If you are going to lie to my face, apprentice, I advise you be more clever." He growls, staring down that mask unflinchingly. A city cannot take his ability, sap it from his bones and his blood. He was born with this gift, it is as much a part of him a his bones.

"The city can and will do much worse to you. That, I can assure you." Vader himself had managed to avoid some of the storms, but public humiliation remains one of Nautilus' special talents.

He releases his hold on Maul from one moment to the next, literally dropping the other man.

"Here, you are no Sith. You are a Wakened. And any child crossing your path from now on is likely much more powerful than you are."

He tries to catch himself as he's suddenly released, the tension in his legs unable to adjust fast enough. Maul stumbles, falls, grips at the ground as he tries to find the strength in his body again. Breathe. Focus. Let anger fuel him, let his rage be his power.

There is no peace, there is passion.

"Comparing me to a child, are you?" He laughs sharply, teeth set into a snarl as he slides down lower, crouching to spring.
"I am more powerful than you give me credit for, apprentice." His hand moves to the sabers at his hip, and in a flash, he springs up, activating his saber in an attempt to slash at that mask.

Vader blocks the attack with his own weapon, not even making an attempt to move out of the way. Instead he uses his own strength to push the other Sith back again.

"You are a fool for not listening, but I am aware that you have some potential at least." Even though Maul still kept failing.

Maul is pushed back, but he does not falter. Digs mechanical legs into the ground and prepares to spring again. His hand moves to his hip, pulling the dark saber into his grasp. Two blades against one, could prove to be useful. Even if he could not tap into the force, he will show this apprentice just how powerful he really is.

Once more, he moves forward, red blade sweeping through air to find his mark. He won't falter. He won't fail. Not today, not now, not when he's so close-

The taller Sith had no intention to back down, but Vader himself refrained from taking out that second lightsaber he still had in his possession despite everything. He had fought dual wielders before, but only one had truly been a notable opponent.

And that had been his very own former apprentice. Even if Maul was fast, Vader had doubts that he could rival Ahsoka.

Again he blocked his opponent's crimson blade, but not without remaining aware of the black one as well.
