The dark beast would probably meet his match here.

But dark eco vs fire, could get extremely dangerous to those around the area.

He wouldn't let it on though, he'd have to attack from a calculated distance to avoid setting himself on fire, but the dark eco sparks around the man could easily sting like heck, being around him though.

Darkness.

What did always have to be darkness?

Ace kept his face very carefully expressionless, though this was a far cry different from the wild delight and psychotic edge of before, and just did his best to send some firefly (hotarubi) green sparks after the beast to ensure that nothing else would catch on fire either. More defensively, he tried to burn off the darkness to see the depths of its range and whether it just absorbed the fire or not.

The dark beast moved its head to notice the green sparks after him but when he kept moving, the orb sparks kept following the dark beast, it seemed to be missing obstacles all except him. Except the beast seemingly was faster than the orbs itself, but one orb did get extremely close to him and hit the dark beast, causing the beast to cry out in slight pain but it forced itself up again. The others would soon be following Dark Jak but he could lead the attack back at the attacker.

Instead of running now, he switched up his tactics and ran at the attacker named Ace. The closer the dark beast got to Ace, the more Ace could feel a burning effect of dark eco on his body.

Damn.

Ace wasn't expecting them to hurt that much, so he quickly pulled the green sparks back into a fist, though he stayed lit on fire himself. If the beast wanted to attack Ace, he was going to have to burn for it, all the same.

"Ease up," a low hoarse growl, because darkness is the worst for him, but he doesn't want to hurt someone just for the sake of causing pain. "We don't have to fight yet." He's still hoarse, trying not to let his mind slip back to the endless darkness of black holes and hell itself.

"I'm Ace. Portgas D. Ace." He squeezes his eyes shut to blow out the dark pain, which was something altogether new to him. Ace was the kind of man who could take torture explicitly used to bring out screams and not make a sound.

"What is it you want?" Still too hoarse, and the fires on his body build up, threatening to explode outward...

But there's the forest and city to consider, so he takes a deep breath. No need to explode it yet.
