Amrael would just eye the horse curiously, before reaching out to award her an affectionate pat of his own. If Epona showed any signs of rejecting that advance, he would quickly pull his hand back in apology.

"I have been recently estranged from my home, yes," he answered calmly. "I'm afraid I've not much in the way of answers as to how I came a stranger to this land. My name is Amrael. Óretak of Earth, from the Chords of Bedóŕa."

"Nice to meet you! I'm Link...of Hyrule. We're in Nautilus now, though. Everyone comes here from their own worlds, and everyone's a little confused at first."
