Me has been heading for the Tardis to collect some more of her journals when she saw him. She froze for a moment. Oh, she might be wearing her hair differently now, and she had switched to a short skirt and blouse combo, but he would have seen her in so many phases over so many years, if she wasn't making an effort to conceal her identity, he'd probably recognize her.

"No," was all she said once she could speak again. She then turned and walked away.

Not fair, world. Not nice, not cool, not anything good at all. To send away Donna, send away Clara, and bring... THIS? Great, another person who would try to draw her out while joining the Rose Tyler Fan Club. UGH.

Jack did not know who he was looking at, but he did see an attractive woman walking the other way.

"Hello!" He called, picking up the pace to catch up to her. "I've just arrived here, I could use some directions." He moved ahead of her and flashed her a grin.

"I'm Captain Jack Harkness."

She turned to face him, feeling a headache coming on. She fixed him with a rather cold stare. "I am aware of who you are, thank you. And I would offer to lead you to someone who would be far happier to see you if you would in exchange promise to not flirt with me any more, but I rather doubt you are capable of making such a promise."

Of everyone she knew to arrive before they knew her... She was actually relieved that Jack didn't know her. She spent every moment she was with River arguing, and she still vastly prefered River's company to Jack's. She almost prefered ROSE'S company to Jack's.

Jack. Jackie. They both irritated her.

"That's quite an assumption." Jack replied, a little less jovial considering she seemed completely uninterested.

"So I take it we meet in the future then? How interesting. Well, whatever I do to you later, don't hold it against me now." He grinned. "I haven't done it yet."

"No, you also haven't stayed dead yet. That too is in my past. Do you honestly think you have less self control in your future than you have now?" She arched a brow. "Since it is your future behaviours my comment was based upon."

"Now I know you're confused." Jack Harkness commented. "I think you have me mixed up with someone else. Well, I wouldn't dream of asking you about my future, so how about we start fresh?" He smiled.

"Captain Jack Harkness, man who thinks he cannot die, Face of Boe, stop me if I am incorrect," she said dryly. "One generally does not need to ask me their future, I see no reason to hide it. I am not terribly good at starting fresh, frankly. Especially not if you think that gives you permission to flirt."

"That's because I can't die." Jack commented. "At least, there's no reason I could yet."

He supposed sometime in his future, he may be able to do so. He didn't want to know, he wasn't allowed to know.

"You should if you know anything about the dangers of time and space, miss." He frowned a little bit. "You're really uptight, aren't you? You need to relax a little."

Flirting was harmless.

"I know few of the details, but I know you do not live to see the end of the universe. There were only two of us left at that point."

She crossed her arms. "I am billions of years old, I have earned the right to be uptight if I wish to be."

"I don't believe you." Jack stated bluntly. "Because if I did, it would cause a lot of problems."

He just shook his head. "See, that's so boring! Billions of years!" Jack grinned. "And how much fun have you had in those years? You should be going out, meeting people experiencing the universe! Because the universe is fun."

"How young you must be to think that what you know is all of what can be," she said dryly. "And either dreadfully young or terribly like the Doctor to not understand that for an immortal, the consequence of that fun is and will always be pain. Immortality is not fun, we are not Peter Pan. We have countless years in which to grow up. But I seem to be the only one who bothered to do so."

"So what?" Jack retorted. "If you spend your life, very long life, worried about the consequences, then you don't enjoy the moments that are there. Do not talk to me like I don't know that. I've lived longer than you think, I've seen more than my fair share."

He shook his head. "You're just wrong. Pain comes, yes, but so do many other things."

She arched her brows and found something to lean against while she crossed her arms. "You want to compare ages? Please, feel free to share your age and then make the universal mistake of asking the woman in front of you how old she is. I am certain it will be very amusing," she said, dryly.

"And other things may come as well, Captain, but the pain lingers long after the other things have faded."
