For a moment, Link wasn't sure if he was going to laugh or cry. Navi was literally the only person who knew everything that had happened in their quest. Even Zelda, although she was there in Nautilus, came from a point before their victory over Ganondorf.

Stuck between tears or laughter, he ended up doing both at the same time, making a truly un-heroic noise in the process.

"Ha, you---yeah, I--guess you could say that. Twice, actually. Welcome to N-Nautilus."

Oh no, this was what Navi was afraid of. She drifted closely to him, towards his chest. Feel free to hug the fairy, she wouldn't mind. "I missed you too..." She finally said.

"I'm sorry."

Yeah, Navi gets hugged.

"It's okay--I'm just really really glad to see you!"

"Oh Link."

Yay, hugged. Her light glowed with some warmth. "Honestly, it's like I can't leave you for a moment." After all, he was still a kid. "So what adventure you dragged me into this time? Nautilus?"

Link's smile brightened slightly, and he wiped his face on his collar.

"You can't blame me on this one. You answered the Call. I had nothing to do with dragging everyone here, I promise."

That did present a good opportunity to add, "Zelda is here! Older Zelda. But, we haven't done everything yet when she's from. And you'll have to meet Shadow, he's from the future! And Clef too, but, he's not from Hyrule."

"I don't remember hearing anything. Then why were we called here?" Navi was a curious fairy, she wanted to study the area to help the little hero any way she could. Guiding him was what she was good at.

"The Princess? But you defeated Ganondorf. Even the future should be fine." Then he mentioned Shadow which left Navi skeptical. "Not the one you had to fight back at the village, right?" Worry fairy was worried.

"I'm still not sure why we're all here exactly, but, it's to help. That much I know."

Link paused, trying to better explain the weird mishmash that was Nautilus. "Well, yeah, but, we haven't done so yet, from her point of view. She's from--well, actually she's from right about that time in Kakariko."

That last question got a head-shake. "No, he's not one of Ganondorf's creations." Just his future incarnation's literal shadow. "We're basically brothers. I think you'll like him."

Goddesses help us all. "Didn't you help enough?" Honestly, she wanted to see him as a kid again, enjoy himself.

"Wow, I wonder why she was pulled early?"

Another sweatdrop from the fairy. "So was that shadow, in a sense." Really she had a bad feeling about it. Call it sensing dark energy. Navi was sensitive to it.

Just because it was Nataulius, Navi suddenly lost her flight ability and fell with a shreik.

"I don't mind. I mean, this place is a lot less freaky than Termina was. Uh--I guess I'll explain about that place later."

Link smiled. "C'mon, I'm a good judge of charact---" He yelped and caught her in his hands as she fell. "Whoa, are you okay?"

Yes, tell her later about the ugly mood and the fairy he replaced her with.

Good catch Link! Navi just sat in his hands. "I think so. That was weird." She flapped her wings a little, it didn't lift her. She flutter harder, still nothing. "Link..." Her voice sound worried. "I can't fly!"

He was mugged, man. By a Skullkid that he's now friends with. ~~Maybe not the best judge of character after all?~~

Link bit his lip and placed her near his hat. "Nautilus is really...strange. He's a city, but, he's also alive. And thinking. And sometimes takes powers away and gives new ones---you'll probably relearn to fly pretty quick, but, until then, just stick with me."

When he was sure she was settled he continued. "Sometimes there's these things call Reality Storms, and the whole city and everyone in it changes. I was a wolf for a whole week one time! And another time I was a weird looking pony."

Navi tucked herself under Link's hat, she left an opening to look outside at least, and to talk to Link properly. "This city is strange." Navi pouted. "It probably was waiting for me to find you."

"Aww, you were a puppy?" Cause that's how Navi imagined it, Link a little pup. "Guess that meant you couldn't use your weapons and shield for a while."

~~True. The really worrying person was that Salesman.~~

"Yeah, basically a wolf puppy. But, I carried my sword in my mouth and Nita used Bending to make my shield small enough that I could carry it."

~~The Salesman....~~

"This place gets more confusing. I wonder if you can talk to the Nautilus world. I got a couple things I want to say to him!"

"You can try. He doesn't really answer. There's recordings from years ago, when he did choose to talk, but, he's been really quiet.

Sometimes he gives gifts from home, though. Or...just gifts in general. I got the Ocarina of Time back, and I've got some of the songs working again! I also have the Master Sword, but, I'm keeping in my room unless I absolutely need it. Adela made me the one I'm carrying right now, and it's really sharp and really useful!"

"So he used that network thing? Long as he can listen what I have to say!" And she'd worry about the response later.

"Really? He gave you the Master Sword! That's amazing!" Really, it was. "So does this mean if you pick it up, you'll grow up again?" So many questions from the little fairy. She tried to look at the blade given to him. "Wow, that's so nice of the person." Which almost sounded like a girl... HMMM.

"No, magic is different here. I can use it, I just have to use two hands. I used it when we were all fighting against that Demon Kid...long story. I'm only using it for big stuff."

Mostly, it was keeping nightmares away when Link went to bed. Some kids slept with a nightlight. He was currently sleeping with the Blade of Evil's Bane.

"She's very nice. Adela's pretty talented with a sword herself, but, she's really hard on herself."

Something tells her she's going to need popcorn after all this. "We'll save it for a campfire story." More sweatdrops on Navi's end, Demon Kid, honestly what was going on in this world?

"You're still chasing girls!" Navi couldn't help but say it. Little Link was growing up.

"I'm not---she's just a friend! I just have a lot of friends who are girls, that's all."

Link was confident that no one in Nautilus felt that way about him.

"Just so happens." Then again, Link didn't even know what engagement was.

Navi will just tuck herself in his hat further.

"I dunno why. Of course, there aren't a lot of boys my age any more. The ones that were here went back to Sleep."

He paused.

"Navi, can...I ask you a question?"

"Sure, what is it?"

Link didn't always sound like the child he was supposed to be. But, this was one of the times he did.

"You don't have to tell me anything, I mean, if you don't wanna."

He bit his lip, and fiddled with his tunic seam. "But...if I did something wrong...or made you upset...you'd tell me, right? So I could fix it?"

Oh no, Navi senses tingling. Link was allowed to be a child in Navi's view. Sure she could be rough sometimes but it was for good intention.

There was a chime sound of a whine from Navi when Link asked. A couple more chimes echoed before Navi spoke. "You never really upsetted me. I mean, sure we argued but that's about it. You didn't do anything wrong to make me really mad. Why ask Navi this?"

"I just wanted to make sure I didn't mess up or anything. Because---because, if I did do something to make you leave, I'm---I'm just---really sorry, and I won't do it again, I promise."

He absently, if solemnly, crossed his heart.

"And...I'm really glad you're here."
