Knuckles went out to do his usual training since it was what he usually did other than run errands. As he walking towards his usual training spot, he stops when he notices a familiar hedgehog. Could it be...? Well he can tell there's some obvious differences, so chances are, he's not the same Sonic that was here before. Darn, so he can't yell at him for that mess they had to clean up. Although he thought about merely greeting him, he decides to pull a little prank on his old rival. He sneaks to one side of the hammock and tries to swing it enough to make Sonic fall out of it.

It wouldn't be that hard to get the drop on someone who was in the throws of taking a nap. The hammock swung around and Sonic fell right out of it, landing face-first on the ground like a sack of potatoes.

Though.. he didn't wake up even with the rude attempt at waking him up. Sonic just laid there and continued sleeping. He let out a loud snore in spite of the jolt.

Someone was a heavy sleeper, it seemed.

Knuckles was pleased and was gonna say 'nice of you to drop in' but is disappointed when he sees this Sonic is still asleep. Yeesh. Well, in that case, he'll wake him up another way. After he moves the sleeping hedgehog around so his face isn't in the dirt, he bends up a bucket full of ice-cold water. He then promptly splashes it on Sonic's face.

The water succeeded in forcing Sonic to sit up, but it still didn't wake his brain up... At least not right away. Sonic instinctually shook his quills out like a wet dog before noticing the echidna standing nearby.

"Heya...uh...Knuckles...?" ...That was Knuckles, right? Or maybe Knuckles had a younger brother he never mentioned. Sonic blinked. "What did you do? Skip leg day? And arm day? And all the days?"

Knuckles raises his hands slightly since he gets hit by the water that Sonic shakes off. Should have thought of that. He does raise an eyebrow at Sonic's confusion. Yeah it's obvious he's from a different zone but does he really look that different in his zone? "Uh no, this is how I normally look," he looks over Sonic briefly. "Drank a lot of milk recently? And I'm guessing that's supposed to be the 'hipster' look? You're missing the black thick square glasses for that."

"On second thought, nah, You don't look that different." Sonic waved and gave a little mischevious smirk. "You'll always look like a total dork no matter what you do." And just being able to be taller than Knuckles was weird enough.

Sonic hopped up and turned his attention back to the makeshift hammock. He began to untangle it and smooth it out with his hands.

"Anyway. Don't suppose you know where we ended up? I don't recognize anything around here."

Well technically Knuckles has gotten a few inches taller in recent times due to being in Nautilus for years, though he is still shorter and smaller than Boom!Knuckles and likely still shorter than this Sonic. It still annoys Knuckles though and he clenches his teeth and fists. Some things never change it seems. "You're in another world called Nautilus. It's basically a huge zone connected to other zones. We've been brought here to watch over other worlds to protect them. I don't think I need to say I'm not the Knuckles you're familiar with."

"So while we're here, who's watching over our.." Sonic lifted his hands and made some airquotes around his next word. "..zone?" If both he and 'Knuckles' (if that was his real name) were here, then that left Tails, Amy, and Sticks to guard against Eggman and any of his lamebots back home. Not the best odds.
