Yeah, he thought, he is. Without a doubt. Until the end.
"I don't even know you dude, and seriously even if I did my only job is to protect the king."
no subject
Vexen snorted. "Anyone can claim that, you know. Not knowing someone hardly means you are innocent of committing crimes against them. Given that you are the only other being I've encountered, surely you can't blame me for being... cautious." Because he refused to call himself paranoid.
no subject
"Oh, I get it." Prompto said after a moment. He exhaled, looking tired. "You're messing with me again. Why even bother? Aren't you bored yet?"
He frowned and took a step back, but the fact he could move was a strange way to torment him.
"So I should be more cautious then." Why assume a stranger's face out of everyone he could have pretended to be? He jerked his wrist. He did it again. Damn, his gun still wasn't coming to hand.
It was all making sense, this was some kind of vision. He wasn't standing there, he was back in Zegnautus Keep, behind bars and restrained.

"And for your information, I do not stoop to such things as petty pranks. That would hardly serve me any purpose in this situation. I have nothing to gain from deceiving you." Said with no small amount of distaste. If anything good was to come of this, it was the fact that perhaps he finally had a break from the members of the Organization that do get pleasure out of such jokes. "I am not 'messing with you', simply attempting to... assist you. We are both, for the moment, stuck here without any knowledge of where we are. And yes, we could both stand to be a little more cautious."
It was evident from the flicking of the stranger's wrist that he was attempting to summon something-- a form of magic, perhaps? A weapon? Vexen had tried the very same thing (repeatedly) upon his arrival, growing quickly frustrated when he discovered his shield simply wouldn't come to him, nor would anything else, regardless of how wildly he threw his arms about or what words he shouted to bring his abilities forth. Perhaps this world just wasn't equip to deal with magic, or else their abilities were somehow being restricted. Regardless, the stranger was of no threat to him if he was just as powerless as Vexen was. The agitation at being disarmed against his will ebbed away slightly at the realization.

"Sorry. I'm running on a serious lack of sleep." Prompto apologized, properly and ran fingers through his hair. He was just as disarmed as the man next to him, but he wasn't entirely helpless, if it came down to it.
"Thanks for your help, anyway." He smiled. "So! Where should we go then?"
no subject
One eyebrow arched up. "'We'? I believe you need to find medical assistance, and I need to find a way to get off of this world, or at the very least gain more information concerning our whereabouts. You're hardly in the shape for any sort of reconnaissance."
no subject
"I'm fine." Prompto shook his head, Vexen didn't need to be concerned about it. "I can help, I'm just not sure which direction we should go."
He had things to get back to.
no subject
Nonetheless, he sighed in defeat. "Very well. I doubt direction matters in a case such as this, so long as there's something to stumble upon whichever way we do go. North is easy enough to start with." He didn't wait for a response before starting off. "With any luck, we'll stumble upon a nice patch of dirt and I can dig you a grave should you die of exhaustion on the way there."
no subject
"Let's go then!" He pushed cheer into his voice almost stubbornly, as though that were reflexive on its own.
"I'm so touched you care enough to bury me." He responded with a little chuckle. So the man had some kind of sense of humour. That thought alone was enough to take some of the edge out of his anxiety over the fact he was so very lost and alone, not to mention the Chancellor could come after him at any time.
no subject
"I consider it more of a common courtesy for everyone else. You should hope you never learn how terrible a decomposing body smells." Why, yes, he can carry out a joke, even if you'd never guess it from his tone of voice.
no subject
"I'll trust you to look after that, but I won't die."
He felt slightly more relaxed, at least. "I'm Prompto Argentum."
no subject
He gave Prompto a wary glance out of the corner of his eye, but it wasn't as if he was trying to hide his identity or anything-- probably no harm in introductions, even if he didn't see why they were remotely necessary. He acknowledged Prompto with just a curt nod before responding in turn.
"Vexen." He's... not big on pleasantries.
no subject
Vexen might not have been, but Prompto was a talkative sort and all the quiet and lapse in conversation was as uncomfortable as anything else. "So uh, the weather's okay right?"
He sounded nervous, he didn't really know how to start a conversation with a stranger, and it didn't help that he'd always been painfully shy.
no subject
Vexen was perfectly content to walk along in complete and total silence. Better to focus that way, after all, and he didn't really have any desire to try and """connect""" in any way with the stranger he just met. It's not like they were ever going to talk again after this, right?
...Clearly the two of them didn't share that point of view. But two can play at the small-talk game. Perhaps if he can match tones well enough they'll both be bored out of their minds enough to just leave each other alone.
"Indeed. Though I tend to prefer it colder, myself."
no subject
Prompto really didn't want to be in silence right about then, although he didn't say so. It was just how he was feeling at the time, and he didn't realize he was imposing on his new companion, rather he was busy thinking he was being a burden in many ways.
"Really?" He shuddered lightly. "I, ah, think I can live without it being that cold. Where I was recently it was totally freezing. Ice and snow everywhere."
