He notices the man, but can't place him. There's something familiar bout him, though. A sense of having met somewhere before and it being important. He doesn't discount those feelings, especially not these days, especially not here. So the only thing to do really is to come up to him, hands in his pockets and see what the man does and if he knows him.

Oh, the Master recognizes him, all right. It's one of the incarnations he technically never met (yet), but you don't steal another man's TARDIS and convert it to a Paradox Machine without doing a little snooping in the databanks first. Whether the Doctor knows him, in turn, is less clear. Again, that sense in the back of his mind is terrifyingly silent and thus absolutely no help.

So the two of them approach each other, each with a poker face, and the Master tilts his head a little and simply says, "Yes?"

Well that's not a lot of help but there's something still nagging him about the whole thing. Still, he smiles, rocking back on his heels.

"Welcome to Nautilus. Haven't seen you round here. Must be new. Anyone shown you around yet?"

He's still not sure about this feeling and hes' not ruling it out but this man doesn't need to know what he's thinking or not.

Lord, the way those ears move when he smiles like that. The Master has to work hard to suppress an out-right bark of laughter.

"Just arrived, actually." The greeting certainly makes him think the Doctor is clueless (and also that his Time Lord senses are not the only ones that are muted in this place). That the Doctor may also be playing him crosses his mind, but he dismisses it as paranoia. As if the Doctor could ever keep his cool, especially these days around another of his species.

"Are you a tour guide?" He's not going to admit he's stranded here against his will. Best to play along.

"Nah. Nothing like that." He starts to walk, assuming the man will follow. "Just someone who knows the area. Been here entirely too long for anyone's piece of mind. Hope you don't mind boring." It wasn't always boring though but that in and of itself was a problem.
selfsaboteur: (it's funny isn't it)

The Master tags along placidly, wondering how long he can stretch this little... well, it isn't a lie, exactly. More an omission of the truth. He knows that following the Doctor anywhere is always a risk. The idiot is a magnet for all manner of peril. But he's always enjoyed these sorts of games, pulling the wool over the Doctor's eyes. It's amusing.

"Oh, I live for boring," he grins.

"That I find hard to believe." Anyone who can say that so casually can't be serious. "What's your name, by the way?"
