Re: Doctor Who | The Master (SPOILERS for latest season/series)

Well ****. Kaylin didn't have to know who this was to know he was trouble. She knew what walking death looked like, and this man was either dangerous or... worse... a noble. Ugh. And unlike back home, she didn't have a boss who kept her far away from the moneyed people as possible. Irene said it was her job to keep new comers from killing themselves, or others, so she would.

Kaylin Neya was short foot short. She made Ashildr look tall. She also made an ally cat look neat and clean. Her rough cut mud brown hair was pulled back into a sloppy knot and staked with a stick. she wore a long sleeved shirt with buttons on the sleeves that managed to look like she slept in it for a week. over that was a leather tunic that also managed to look wrinkled, and over that sleeveless chainmail. Kaylin Neya was talented enough to make CHAINMAIL look untidy and wrinkled. HEr black leather pants were badly mended along the outer though on one leg and under the front of the knee on the other, both areas stained darkly with old blood. Her boots had blood and mud worked into the crevices.

Over the chain was a wide belt that held a curved dagger on either hip, along with other odds and ends like ties, a nightstick, and a water skin. There was what looked like delicate tattoo of deadly nightshade on one cheek. the other sported a huge welt that went with her split lip and the healing gash over her brow.

Her brown eyes narrowed up at him, the palms of her hands resting lightly on her daggers, calling attention to the very expensive antique gold bracelet she also wore, inset with three gems.

"Guessing you're new, then," she said, flatly.

If he wrinkled his nose at her, would it be considered rude? Well, too late to take it back now. She looks as if she's been on the losing side of a mud brawl. It's only the daggers in her belt that stop him from saying anything aloud about her appearance.

"As a matter of fact, I am," and he forces a smile. "And who might you be?" Never mind he hasn't bothered introducing himself yet.

Right, forgot to say, she has trigger warnings, so if you need to drop the thread, I do understand.

"Private Kaylin Neya. Hawks of Elantra and Task Force of Nautilus, or Ravellon, whichever name you prefer."

She heaved a heavy sigh, muttered a curse in German under her breath, then shook her head. Nothing to be done. "I'll take you to a welcome house to get settled in, there's bound to be someone there a ***** of a lot nicer than I am, and thus better at this whole welcome ****."
selfsaboteur: (srsly?)

it should be fine!

Those were quite a lot of credentials for such a diminutive (and filthy) person. The Master was nearly impressed. No, not really.

"Don't do this sort of thing very often, do you?" he asked sympathetically. No, she looked like someone who acted first and thought later, the sort of warrior that could be very useful indeed. Depending on where their loyalties ultimately lay.

Cool

Her loyalties lay with the Hawks. With the Tha'alani. With Teela, more or less. But none of those people were here. "More since I arrived than before," she said, a bit disgusted. "Back home, Marcus is smart enough to keep me away from powerful people? But there...? Power means money. This world? No **** money." That still irritated her. "And as for magic? If you had any it's gone. You get it back over time being here. Which means that anyone new, doesn't actually have power."

Huh. She never thought of that before. It was kind of disturbing.

Thing was, you didn't need mind reading to read Kaylin's thoughts, her face was THAT expressive. She can't lie for ****, and her every thought is plain to read on her face, once you learn her context.
