He grinned, holding on with claws just enough to cling to clothing, not enough to hit skin.

"That isn't obvious?" he asked, tail whipping around to tag her far cheek, because it amused him. "I'm hungry!" Oh, or did she mean that he was a cat?

She's grateful she's wearing her jacket again, or she'd probably be worried about getting clawed up. As it is, so long as the cat can balance himself without her needing to interfere, it's not the worst situation to be in.

"Hungry isn't a species. Hungry means you ought to go catch fish-- I meant you are a cat, aren't you?"

"Yes, of course I am! And thank you for offering to go fishing with me. Ocean is that way," he said, pointing with his nose.

"I wasn't. I haven't the time. How is it that you're able to talk? Experimentation?" She doesn't want to outright list 'alien interference' as an option, but, well, that'd been the case last time.

"I'm a talker. Geeze, most people here catch on faster than that. Guess you're a little slow then, huh? It's okay. I can teach you all about this place while we fish."

Someone does not listen to "no" well.

"I am not! I've simply no idea what a talker is. This isn't Earth, is it? It all looks so similar."

He can keep pestering all he wants, but she's sure not moving from her spot. There are far more important things for her to focus on-- fishing is the furthest thing from her mind right now.

"Of course this isn't Earth! The fishing is much better here!" He had a one track mind, apparently. "A talker is an animal who talks. We have longer life spans, and tend to be smarter. Now, the ocean is that way, the fish market is that way, the lake is over there," he pointed to each with his nose. "Oh! And there is the All Blue. I love that place! They always have fish for me! Or the Tardis, someone there will usually feed me."

"If it isn't Earth, then where is it?" Perhaps an alternate version of Earth? She's not exactly familiar with crossing dimensions like that, but surely it's manageable if one manages to bend the rules of reality enough. The Doctor tends to be good at such things.

One-track mind, indeed. She can barely go a few words without attempting to cut him off again. "I've already told you, I don't have time for fish. I've been temporarily separated from my companion and our... ship. I-- the Tardis?"

That, at least, gets her attention far more effectively than all of the fish talk does. "You're familiar with it? It's here?"

"This place is called Nautilus, which despite how it sounds isn't actually edible. And... yeah it.... wait!" HAve Spark sitting up in shock, fur up, ears up, all alert. "The Doctor turns into a WOMAN!?" Actually he was betting she was like Rose, another wife or something, bit that was too funny to pass up.

Did you hear that? That was the sound of your point flying completely over Romana's head. Largely just because she'd never think to compare herself to the Doctor, let alone consider the possibility that anyone could possibly assume she's him.

"Does he? I've only met one of his faces, so I suppose it's not out of the question. Is she here?"

"You know, you're kind of boring," he informed her, flopping over her shoulder as though his spine vanished. "Four of him are here, actually." Pretty sure that one isn't supposed to be a secret. Well if it was... whoops. He didn't like the leather one. Though the candy smelling one and the one that Adrein's father hates were both okay.

"Why, because I don't want to waste my time going fishing with you? If that's what qualifies as boring here, I'll take that as a compliment." Though she thinks the word he's looking for is sensible. Practical, even.

"Four of him? And no paradox? How do you suppose that works?"

Not as if she really expects to get an answer from him as far as that goes.

"How should I know? They start talking all technical and I take a nap. I just wake up for words like wibbly and timy wimy, because sometimes that means I'm about to get fed. And you're boring because you don't react to anything."

"That does sound like them. The Doctor I'm familiar with- he's got quite a lot of hair and a long striped scarf. Is he here?" It'd make leaving much more convenient than trying to get timelines sorted out with all the other versions of him.

"Just because I don't react the way you want me to do doesn't mean I don't react at all, you know. One would think predictability is more boring than an unexpected reaction."

"Yeah, he's here. He gives good scritches. Not so great with the fish, however. Can you tell him that he needs to carry fish in his pockets, not just candy?"

"Yeah? So react. surprise me..." So not buying it, lady.

"Can we please stop talking about fish? I need you to tell me where he is, or where you saw him last."

And, well. She actually does pause for a bit, and even entertains feigning some ridiculous reaction just to prove that she can-- but she doesn't want to seem childish, and she's frustrated enough by this whole conversation that she refuses to stoop that low, tempting as it is. Instead she opts to just very deliberately ignore the request, as if that's any less petty of her.

"so... let me get this straight... We should ignore what I want, and my requests, and just fulfill your requests and focus on what you want?"

"Your request takes a great deal of time that I don't have. I'm not planning on staying, I only have to find the Doctor so that we can both leave. Don't try to compare the two."

But yes, even if she's denying it, that's exactly what she'd prefer to happen here.

"You don't have a choice about staying. I do have a choice about helping you, however."
