Don't be sorry this is wonderful
She barely has time to get the question out before something is shoved into her hand, and she doesn't even have the time to examine that before she's getting dragged off. She manages a glance behind her just to confirm that, yes, they are in danger, good to know. Always nice to be on top of the situation, isn't it?
But spiders or no spiders, she's far more interested in the device, and as they're sprinting along she tries her best to examine it.
"Where did you get this?"
Priorities.
XD it's going to get so much worse
You asked.
This one is a copy of 9's which says Bad Wolf on the side of it.
"It's restaurant. Well. You can loosely call it that."
Rose glanced backwards. "Wave it at the spiders a bit like a magic wand, will ya? Don't worry about changin' the setting."
no subject
That doesn't make any sense. This clearly isn't edible, not to humans, and this individual certainly seems human, or at least humanoid. She's seen Earth dining utensils and this isn't one of those, either.
"Why would a restaurant possibly have--"
But those spiders sure are gaining on them, so that chain of questioning is broken off. For now, at least. Don't think she's just going to let it drop like that.
Waving anything around like a 'magic wand' seems more than a bit ridiculous, to the point that she actually tries to gauge her new companion's expression to determine how serious she is. She certainly looks serious enough about it, and her tone was rather direct...
Confused, but at least only sighing inwardly rather than outwardly, Romana obliges. Though it's a bit hard to aim properly and wave with one arm while she's being dragged along by the other at such a quick pace.
no subject
No worries, the aiming doesn't have to be good, because it's just a toy anyway, Rose just uses it to focus her bending, sending the deep thumping and phoenix trills through the device to irritate the spiders en masse. Sure she could do it without the screwdriver, but where would be the fun in that?!
"They have meals with plushies of the denizens here. There was even one of me as Bugs Bunny!" No Romana, you don't have to know who that is, none of the Doctors are familiar with their Loony Toon nickname counterparts.
Speaking of Gothdonald's though, Rose leads them inside and barricades the door with a chair. "Whew! That's a rush!" She peered out the doors at them, took back the screwdriver slightly and sent more beeps to irritate the spiders and make them go away.
"I'm Rose, Rose Tyler by the way," She offered a haphazard handshake with the wrong hand, still playing with the spiders and screwdriver. "Do not bother with the chips here, they're terrible. Drinks are okay though. But then after you've had turkey and gravy flavored slushie, anything normal is all right."
no subject
She's so off-put by the sudden change of scenery after she stumbles through the door that she nearly misses the introduction. But inbetween turning in slow circles and examining the decor with confusion, she does manage to return it with her own name.
"Romanadvoratrelundar." She'll try to match the awkward handshake, though she doesn't seem to put much force behind it. Her mind is still trying to catch up from... well, all of that. "To be perfectly honest, food wasn't exactly very high on my list of priorities at the moment. What was all of that, back there?" She gestures towards the door, moving towards it to peer outside as well.
no subject
"Whot? Gesundheit," Rose responded to the name, as if it was a sneeze.
"We're not here for food, unless you want, it's just a good place to fortify 'gainst the spiders." Rose huffed and pushed her hair back with a hand. "I should'a brought along Jack. But either he'd use guns, and he hasn't gotten used to the bending -- well I could'a brought Scarfy, but he and I would'a gotten distracted with flowers..." Still kinda babbling to herself, Rose continued, "Nine would be worse though, always getting carried off. I swear their queen has a taste for him."
She peered out at the spiders again, they could probably leave soon, but Rose decided to use this time to catch their breath and focus on the other points.
"Right so, you new to Nautilus Ro-ma-na-drov-" Rose quickly gave up. "Can I just call you Romana? Human tongue and all, not good at dragon names. Or... alien species. You should seem try to talk Sycorax. It's awful." Deep breath, and she tried to mumble a Sycorax cursed insult, but even for hearing the Doctor do it a hundred times, it's a no go. "Oh! But I can say Raxacoricofallipt-" ...... "I swear I've done it before," Rose pouted in frustration. "Raxacoricoflipping-- Raxacricker-- ahhhhhh..." She bit her bottom lip. Okay. Maybe she can't. "Right! Forget that I tried that!" Rose made an X with her arms.
She almost added that Lady Me was the one good with languages like the Doctor, but eh. Maybe when she got to know the woman more. She passed back the screwdriver toy. "This came with the plushie of my friend. You recognize it, or just thinkin' it's a normal torch?"
no subject
She watched the spiders closely for a bit. "It is that, I suppose. And I probably ought to thank you for your help." Though, if she's being perfectly honest with herself, she's not sure it was really necessary. She's positive that if she'd had just a second more to spot the spiders herself she would've thought of something. "At this point I can't say I'd object to a gun, really. Might scare them off, and if they're truly dangerous--" well, you did what you had to in situations such as those.
She took the screwdriver back as it was offered to her, turning it over in her hands. Clearly not the real artifact, but the replica is visually similar enough to technology she recognizes that it falls into place in line with everything else.
"Romana is fine. You mentioned Sycorax, and Raxacoricofallapatorius... and this device, it looks to be a variation of the sonic screwdriver. You must be familiar with the Doctor. I'm hardly surprised he eventually took up a human companion in his travels. He does have a fascination with that planet." For reasons beyond her.
She passes the screwdriver back. "You said something about a scarf?"
no subject
She beamed in amusement at how smart the woman was and able to keep up with everything. She made Sarah Jane look like... Well like Rose herself, actually, but anyway.
"Eventually, huh? Sunshine did say he was trying to get rid of people for a bit." Rose laughed and shook her head in amusement. Romana looked human but...
"Scarfy is the Fourth Doctor incarnation. His Tenth, Ninth, and Eighth are here as well." Rose tilted her head to the side. "Fluffy is Ten, Nine keeps refusing nicknames, and yeah, I'm his... friend." She faltered momentarily. Romana was too polite to be the Master, or Missy? But clearly someone from the Doctor's past, 4th incarnation. Not that that helped much. Friend, or foe? Either way, Rose left the engagement ring from Ten on the chain around her neck while she tried to piece it all out. Jo was blonde, Polly, Rose had seen. Not Susan, of course.
Rose snapped her fingers, "Any chance you know K-9? He'd be mighty useful here. And Sunshine -- Scarfy, would be over the moon."
A beat, "Oh right! I met him in his 9th incarnation stuck with him through most of his 10th, and live with Fluffy at the makeshift TARDIS. No soul, so empty shell kind of freaks out 4 and 8 and they live in the West out here." Rose pouted. "9 made portals so I could go back and forth without runnin' inta the spiders, but --" she scrunched her face up, "Where's the fun in that?!" If you ever thought the Doctor was needlessly reckless... "But don't tell Fluffy," she put a finger over her lips. "Our secret. Or he'll give himself a double heart attack."
no subject
Regardless of how lopsided the deal may be, she nods in agreement to it. "I certainly wasn't planning on killing them myself. Even if I wanted to, I don't have the weapons for it. Besides, you managed well enough with your screwdriver," and speaking of the fake screwdriver, she hands it back to Rose. "I'm sure the Doctor wouldn't mind that you were out here. You seem more than competent enough to me." And even if he asks, neither one of them was technically alone out here.
She actively has to resist the urge to call the recklessness of just ignoring the perfectly safe portals for the fun of it into question, but she has to admit she's not entirely surprised. She would have expected as much from the Doctor, and if Rose is close to him it's hardly a surprise she managed to pick up his attitude towards danger.
And although she can't say for certain without knowing his history, 'trying to get rid of people' did sound like the Doctor to her. She smiles a bit. "He certainly didn't take too kindly to my assignment." Granted, she hadn't been making it easy for him back then. "But we tolerate each other well enough now." She actually respects him quite a great deal, but there's other matters she'd rather get into with a stranger than her acquaintanceship with the Doctor.
"Four of him? Well, even if it wasn't a paradox waiting to happen, it sounds like a great deal of trouble." And speaking of the apparent lack of paradoxes, she assumes they must be outside of the regular rules of time, here. That or all four of the Doctors had managed to cross their own timestreams at once, and even for him that seems unlikely. "You all must be quite a bit further along in the timestream than I am, then, if I've only met his Fourth. Is he still just as childish?" She wouldn't expect anything better from him.
"I do know K-9, though I'm not sure he's here with me. I got a bit... separated from the TARDIS. I was assuming the Doctor would know where it was, but if it's not really here then I'm not so sure K-9 would be either, I'm afraid. He was on board when we left."
no subject
A small hum, "Assignment?" Her brows furrowed. "You're not from Earth, so not UNIT, yeah?" Despite reading as much of the TimeLord court documents on the Doctor as Rose could bend up, in their own TimeLord writing no less, there were definitely gaps in her knowledge, and the Doctor didn't talk about his past freely.
Rose laughed and shook her head, "Trouble's the fun part! I still want to see his future versions, and the one who wore celery," spoilers Rose gosh, "And the rest of his past." More laughs, and Rose nodded. "Yeah! O' course he's silly," ALL THE GIGGLES. "It's what makes him fun!" She stuck her tongue out the side. She wasn't sure about explaining that she got along best with Four, despite him being so much younger and in the past, or maybe because of that. She didn't want to accidentally get into a competition like with Sarah Jane or Martha all over again.
"Even 10 is childish," she rolled her eyes, laughing some more. "OH GOSH! Get this though!" She held up both hands, tucking the screwdriver momentarily into her pocket. "Ten's been here the longest of everyone, but not only did he get the Box, the TARDIS shell set up like a house. He's got," Rose whistled quietly, thinking and counting on her fingers. "Somethin' like a dozen people livin' there now." She laughed and shook her head, "Four and Eight can barely recognize himself! Well, 9 either. 9 is Mr. 'I don't do domestics, Rose,'" she folded her arms and put on a deadpan expression in imitation of 9, even if Romana hadn't met him yet.
"A lot of 'em are my fault though. I get bored," Rose winked. "There's Adrien, Chat, Marinette, Ladybug, Alya, Connie, Nino, Will, Kirika, Jack, Ianto," firm nod, "And Spark's a talking cat who lives with Adrien technically, but just like we steal Adrien a lot, Chat comes with." A quiet hum! "Jack and Ianto are the only real adults in the whole Box. Even for being the oldest of himself there, the Doctor is definitely still childish," Rose laughed and shook her head. "Connie's the youngest even though she's a teenager too," Will looked the youngest, but he wasn't. Even if Rose didn't count him as an adult either. "But she's more mature than Jack, and Jack's," Rose closed one eye in thought, sticking her tongue out the side. "A couple thousand years old? Twice as old as the Doctor, definitely, and yet the Doctor still fusses over him like Jack's a baby." A random mumbled additional, "Baby Boe."
Rose laughed and shook her head again, "Point is, Fluffy's the most overprotective, bar none, and all--" Rose threw her hands up in exaggeration, mimicking 10 now, "'Oh no! Kids are bein' KIDS! I should totally stop this and protect them! OH LOOK A BUTTERFLY!'" Rose opened her mouth in mock shock, and laughed, shaking her head. "But yeah. It's funny how he collects people now. It's good on him! The craziest part was when he tried to work a normal human-style job. He actually managed for a few months! But that was because Adrien's bio-Dad is here and a bit uptight," Rose held her fingers up a smidge. "Just a touch."

She takes a moment to pause before she speaks again, inwardly debating whether or not she ought to give the details of this bit. Considering they were actively on the run from the consequences of their mission, it probably wasn't such a wise idea... but then, Rose is a friend of the Doctor's. A long-time friend, even. She might already know, though she can't imagine the Doctor is one to tell lengthy tales about his past. "I was assigned by the Lord President of Gallifrey to assist the Doctor in recovering the pieces to the Key of Time. The Doctor wasn't too keen on the idea, at the time."
"I'm not sure fun would be the word I would use to describe it," Romana shakes her head slightly. Silly, most certainly, and childish and rather ridiculous at times. It's so much worse when she's trying to take a situation seriously, but... well, she'd be lying if she said there wasn't times when she appreciated it. Not many beings in the universe have been able to make her laugh like he has. "I ought to consider myself lucky I didn't end up with the celery Doctor. At least the scarf has its charm."
She was managing to keep up with all of this well enough before. Paradoxes and timelines and things like that-- those are things she's well equip to deal with. One doesn't leave the Academy with top marks and have nothing to show for it, after all, and she's been with the Doctor long enough to know that nothing tends to go right when it comes to time travel. Especially time travel involving him. But this? This has completely lost her. When she does speak again, it's after a very long pause and she sounds somewhat alarmed.
"Sounds... crowded. I believe I would get claustrophobic rather quickly." The other Doctors seem to have the right idea. "The company likely keeps him busy, though, doesn't it? Less likely to run off into trouble if he's got children to deal with, I would hope."
Romana has to smile at Rose's impression of the Doctor-- it's not the Doctor she's familiar with, she knows, but it still sounds like him. Some things just don't change, even with a new face. "I'm glad he's been finding ways to keep entertained. I imagine being stuck in one spot would be rather hard on him." Given his tendency to travel, and to run. "It must be strange, having the TARDIS be... non-functional." Sort of like living in a corpse, isn't it?
no subject
Rose was clearly not a fan.
As for celery, while Rose wasn't able to laugh that instantly, she did grin and shake her head, "That's nothing. His Sixth life had this rainbow monstrosity," a shudder, but purposely exaggerated, not like rage and fear of before. "Hideous. If Sunshine gives me the go ahead, I'll dig out from Fluffy to show ya, yeah?"
Rose nodded quietly about the claustrophobic and nonfunctional TARDIS, and closed her eyes. "Mm! That's why the rest of his lives don't live there, except when Fluffy heads out on missions." She tilted her head to the side. "Or when he and I went back. Then I had the TARDIS' soul, but no Doctor."
If Romana had been sent on the mission by Rassilon, it was before he was deposed, and then replaced, and then voted back in for the war. But that meant... a TimeLord perhaps??? Or... almost certainly given Rassilon's attitude to -- didn't 4 say he had to leave Sarah Jane behind because humans couldn't go to Gallifrey then?
Rose had a crazy impulsive thought about trying to stop the Time War again, like she once suggested to 8, but rationally she knew better. Even for all she'd done...
Rose knuckled her forehead slightly, "I was traveling between the void--" Tch... Stupid Rose. She could slap herself. Wait no, maybe it was fine, the universes weren't as sealed off in Romana's time, specifically because of Rassilon--
Rose ground her teeth slightly, glancing off sideways, and shoving fists in her jacket. Torturing the Doctor, trying to blow up all of time and space, and then the "worst" (in Rose's view): splintering a timeline in which Rose was turned cyberman and shot her Mum.
Her eyebrows rose as she suddenly remembered something else. She took Romana's hands in both of her own, clasping them gently.
"If you're a friend of the Doctor's, from Gallifrey... there's someone else here you must be very very careful with. She has forgotten -- well, chosen to forget," Rose made a small tsk and an even smaller frown, "Her first name. She goes by Me, or Lady Me." The shoulder tremble was back.
How much was safe to say? She didn't want to scare one of the Doctor's friends. It was so bewildering as it was! The TimeLords were gone, then survived because of-- no one except Rose had a good idea of how, and Fluffy flat out couldn't believe it, and 9 didn't really want to in case--
She sighed, still shivering even though it wasn't that cold inside.
Confession Dial, Rassilon, Lady Me. The Trap. "She is not an enemy... but," Rose's shoulders stilled, her eyes narrowing, "She's been to Gallifrey at the end of Time. She's seen the Doctor at his absolute worst," well no, Rose very much doubted that. Rose had seen the Doctor after the war, and suicidal, and murderous, and tyrannical, and everything he hated. But the hybrid, which Rose was not even remotely foolish enough to mention, was bad enough that Rassilon tortured him over it, and 8... was rather blase about that, because that's Rassilon for you. Seriously, Rose was going to kick that Lord President in the face, if he ever arrived.
Still, Rose had to think carefully how to explain it. The significance for Romana, without giving away anything about the TimeWar or even too much about Rassilon -- just in case. "The TimeLords and Ladies used her as bait for a trap for him," she narrowed her eyes carefully. Yes, that would work, given how Romana had been assigned to him. Even if Romana was part of those in the future making the trap, Romana herself was well enough before all the events, that Lady me was bound to trouble her. And that was without Lady Me even understanding the Time War and the significance of the Doctor thinking he was the last of his kind.
Rose let go of Romana's hands, having forgotten the stories about TimeLord standoffishness in her own emotional pique, and giving her an apologetic half-grin.
"Ten, Fluffy is determined to just stay here now. For all the missions he might go on and stuff, it's part of his being here. He's focused on enjoying the moment here," Rose closed her eyes, half wincing slightly, "Whiiiiich... might be a bit o' my fault," another apologetic grin, "Buuuut he IS happier not worryin' about what the TimeLords and... Rassilon," Rose couldn't even hide the dead-eyed flat expression at his name, "Have planned for him next. Lady Me's from even beyond his future. Jack knows--" Rose squinted, "A bit of it? But him and Lady Me don't get on." She mimed two rams clashing heads with her fists knocking together in demonstration. "Too opposite everythin', yeah?" A quiet snort. "Not sayin' ta avoid her, or that she's bad, she's really lonely, but wants to be alone..." Rose rolled her eyes. "But be careful with her, yeah? She doesn't have much reason to trust any TimeLords, and those connected to 'em -- not even the Doctor, I think."
no subject
Rainbow monstrosity, now that sounded appropriate. "I could've guessed he was rather taken with bright colors. I'm hardly surprised he chose to take it to a higher level." If his scarf is any indication, that is.
She's a bit surprised when Rose grabs her hands, but she doesn't object (for the moment) and she holds her gaze steadily. "The end of Time? But how? And why would the Time Lords bait a trap for the Doctor?" Well, she has a few guesses, actually, but none concerning the end of time. Just what had he gotten into that she didn't know about? "Of course he manages to have enemies, even here-- even with four of him about. It never ends with him, does it?"
She's about to tug her hands away when Rose lets go of them anyways, but she doesn't exactly match Rose's grin (apologetic or not). She looks rather troubled, because as vague as Rose had been... well, that's the problem, actually. She knows well enough that one is only vague when they're deliberately trying not to alarm someone. That's the case with the Doctor, anyways, though it rarely works. He tends to be slightly more straight-forward with her now, at least, and she should hope he knows she's too clever to fall for that at this rate. But it could all come down to spoilers, couldn't it? Perhaps she isn't meant to know the fate of the Doctor, the fate of her planet. Perhaps she just doesn't want to know.
In either case, she has the restraint not to pry more than she has, though she at least has to question one point. "Rassilon. You talk of him as if you know him personally, but... you are human, aren't you? How does that happen?" She pauses for a second afterwards. "You don't have to tell me if you can't. If it's something I'm not meant to know-- I'm curious, that's all."
no subject
Rose herself is usually a billion times straightforward than even the Doctor, especially after her traveling between the void, but well...
She chews on one of her fingertips in thought, and rocks on her heels. "Rassilon, and Rassilon, again... to answer your questions."
Rose shook her head. Hybrid would never be a go, but... she chewed he bottom lip in thought. "Lady Me wants to protect him from the TimeLords well- Rassilon... sort of it's...." She sighed and huffed quietly, facepalming. "The Doctor does something stupid in his future. Big surprise." He was always doing dumb things.
"I definitely can't tell you why or how Rassilon gets back in power," Rose frowned, narrowing then crossing her eyes temporarily in thought before shaking her head. "But... he wanted to do the trap and used Lady Me to do it, because of the stupid thing the Doctor did. Or does. Will do."
Rubbing the back of her neck, Rose glanced away, thinking harder. "No, we've never met, and he wouldn't know me." She turned back to Romana seriously. "But I know him." She cracked her knuckles, flexing her hands and wrists, and thinking all the harder. Lady Me was bound to tell Romana about the torture, probably. But Rose couldn't. She couldn't even bear the idea of how upset the Doctors there would be if Rose did tell, and she was no longer trying to protect Lady Me from well... that at least. Though there were plenty of other things.
All right, how to explain it. Skipping the Time War entirely--
Rose's brown eyes narrowed darkly again. "He tried to destroy my universe; Rassilon. More than once," honestly, who hadn't? And none of the rest of them Rose held a grudge against. But saying that he hurt Rose's best friends was a bit too much of a giveaway, and while she'd mentioned to Four about the cyber-timeline, it wasn't something she told even the rest of the Doctors, and the only version of the Doctor she could ever imagine bringing up to, would be one so far in the future it wouldn't matter. Still... Rose cocked her head to the side. "My... father," she said hesitantly, still uncertain about using that word for him, or explaining the situation, "Was the head of Torchwood in a -- different universe." All right, that was a good starting place. Especially with Jack and Ianto there, Torchwood was bound to come up. "He chased down cybermen from his universe through the void to your universe, and the Torchwood of that universe had Jack and Ianto working in a different division, in Cardiff, but the London Torcwhood were accidentally bringing the cyberman over; because they're right idiots."
A serious nod.
Lalalala. Skipping all the daleks, because that was TimeWar stuff.
Rose held up a hand, "I know this is really roundabout," an apologetic grin again, "But it's the only way I know to try." She closed her eyes again to think. "I... the last time the Doctor and I went back home," she said carefully, another wolfish head tilt, "You can do that here, you can return to your own timeline, but I don't recommend it until you talk to the Doctor at least, yeah? He and I waited a year to go back." She shook her head. Back on point. "When we went back, I had to go between... timelines that never were." A headtilt again. She knew TimeLords could no longer do that, could they have before? Were there laws against that? She didn't even know what was entirely required in it for anyone but her to have tried. But it hardly mattered. "My father, Peter Tyler, is an inventor, so in his universe, the cyberman originated with his company, not Mondas."
She snorted quietly. It was all random bits of yarn and collecting them into a full ball took some doing, which was a mental image she'd gotten from Four, and instantly wanted to share with him, but FOCUS! "The Doctor and I... became separated at Torchwood. The London branch of your Universe." She cracked her knuckles again.
This was going to be a very weird way of explaining the long series of interconnected events focusing specifically on isolated pieces, but it did all connect at least!
"Rassilon divided us. For whatever reason. Destroying the universe reasons, and in another timeline, for power. And it -- at the time, sealed the Universes off completely, so the Doctor couldn't reach me." 100% true, but with so many missing details, it was nearly laughable.
"To get back to the Doctor, I used my father's inventions, and I had to follow a trail of ehhhhhh.... glitched timelines. Fifth dimension. All the maybes around mortals around the Doctor trying to," she mimed her fingers as if this would help. "Make a bridge." A huff. Good enough. "One of the timelines, I was turned into a cyberman and shot my Mom, and Jack died trying to save me in all of them--" Again, true, but... with ridiculously less details than reality. Not the least of which was that Rose turned Jack into a fixed point which gave Timelords the heebie jeebies, but whatever! Rose was also aware that TimeLord senses were dulled or flat-out nonexistent here and had to be specifically bent back, and if the Doctor thought Romana was in danger of doing that around Jack, he could warn her himself. "It's not 100% Rassilon's fault, mind ya, I mean it's all kind of..." She closed her eyes and made a bunch of ball and explosions hand gestures. "Complicated." Rose turning herself into the weapon and channeling it in Nautilus and fusing timelines she wasn't supposed to remember; complicated.
"But I told the Doctor, all of 'em here, if I ever see any incarnation of Rassilon and --" Rose closed her eyes and counted on fingers, "I've seen like 4 or 5 of him in--" dreams. Reality. Visions. Things that never were but could have been, would have been if she, Jack, and/or the Doctor weren't there stopping them from being. "A way." Hahahaha. Well, it was true again, just not a normal physical one. "But if I evar see 'im, I'm gonna kick him in the face. And mess him up with Bending before he can even get his bearings!" Huff!!! And Rose folded her arms.
"An' I don't even know what all Jack and Ianto had to go through on their end of Torchwood, but I know a lot of it was stupid Rassilon's fault." The rift, the displaced aliens, the -- well, Rose hadn't asked them, and there were certainly things that weren't Rassilon's fault, but still. Anyone at all making life harder than it needed to be on Jack and a huge chunk of Earth's timeline was someone Rose held a grudge again. "Imma kick his stupid face!" Growl growl.
Davros, daleks, and cyberkings didn't faze Rose. And she only barely remembered she was supposed to fear the Master, not try to befriend him (she wanted to anyway just because), Rassilon though... Rassilon she was going to kick in the face. And 8 getting stuffed full of anti-time by Rassilon and turning him into Zagreus had definitely sold Rose on the concept, long before she knew anything about cyberman timelines and only just that he had been willing to destroy the universe and ascend the timelords into beings of higher consciousness, like a Jim Jones Kool Aid drinking cult. Although finding out about him torturing the Doctor had been the real start. Luckily this was a much more restrained Rose who no longer violently fantasized about ways to stab him.
no subject
More than she first thought, if he was able to manipulate all of that. Even if Rose said it wasn't entirely him, it certainly seemed to come back to it. It's more complicated than anything, and Romana isn't going to pretend that she can puzzle it all out immediately, not with so many pieces missing. But she more than understands why Rose has to beat around the bush like this. Annoying as it is, some things she just isn't meant to discover, not at this point in time. She'll shelf them for now.
And she certainly plans on going back to this conversation in her own time, to work out... well, not exactly a timeline of events (that's far too complicated in and of itself), but a more solid picture of what's happened.
But she does understand that there was a great deal of unnecessary suffering involved for all parties.
Romana reaches out a hand and very briefly rests it on Rose's shoulder before withdrawing it. She's not given to be incredibly emotional, not when it's simply business as always for her, but she understands that no matter how acquainted a human is with the going-ons of Time Lords, it's never quite the same. She can't imagine how hard it must have been to handle all of that, and to be without the Doctor and uncertain of how to get back. She's very much beginning to appreciate how clever this Rose seems to be-- clever in the same way she is. The good way, not the Doctor's 51% grade at the Academy way.
When she speaks again, it's for the first time while Rose was talking. She hadn't felt it right to interrupt, and she'd been busy thinking, anyways.
"I'm very sorry. It isn't the first time an extraterrestrial has intervened with Earth's timeline, and it very likely won't be the last, but it was... cruel." She can't pretend to know the full details of what happens in the Doctor's future, but what she's heard is more than enough to fear for how he copes with it. The Doctor... isn't always fluent in emotions, but then, she isn't either in most cases. Perhaps that's why they'd initially gotten off on the wrong foot.

She beamed instantly at Romana's overture of friendship and hand on shoulder, even if the TimeLady had mostly learned from the Doctor how to act and react to things, she was already leagues better than even Fluffy who was prone to licking things and freaking humans out, or 9 who insulted all species when frustrated. Rose instantly ran with her instincts and decided that Romana was definitely a friend forever, no matter what the Doctors or Lady Me told her. -- Though it should be noted, Rose was not always the greatest judge of character, having picked up Jack as a conman, ran off with the Doctor himself, and felt sympathy for Davros and daleks and still wanted to befriend the Master.
She laughed at the comment, truly heartily giggling, and nodding her head enthusiastically. "That's an understatement!" SO MUCH GIGGLES. "First time the Doctor took me back home to my Mum? We wound up a year late, I argue, because the TARDIS knew we needed to stick around and gave us just enough time ta do it, but -- OH! Right!" Rose slapped herself in the forehead. "That's the other thing! Lady Me absolutely hates me! She--"
Oh wow, Rose was definitely sure the Doctor in the future had broken all sorts of TimeLord laws in bringing Lady Me back to life. Especially since his third life had been a forced regeneration and exiled to Earth on account of his 'meddling.' She chewed her bottom lip in thought, and winced. Might as well go for broke. If Romana was going to do something on account of it, she'd find out at some point, it was much too difficult to hide unlike the TimeWar. "That's the stupid thing the Doctor did." Rose giggled again and held up a finger, rolling her eyes, "Well, one of. His future self, beyond 10, made Lady Me immortal. I can't exactly read him the riot act over that though, because," Rose gestured feebly and wince, "I might'a done similar to Jack on accident. Which is where he got the idea."
She sucked in both lips, her expression as childish as to match any of the Doctor's. Even the 4th's most exaggerated reactions. "Don't ask," Rose laughed and shook her head, rubbing her forehead. "But Lady Me was with my Mum during the year I was missing and knows my ex-boyfriend, and about Jack, and sometimes I purposely needle her and call her by her given name which she hates." Rose held up both hands, "So she really hates me. That aside though..."
Another laugh. This is why Four and Rose couldn't run around Nautilus together without getting distracted by... everything. They spent all their time together joking and being ridiculous. Good luck Romana.
"So the Doctor's like, "'ere we go! Returned 12 hours later, safe and sound!" an' I go upstairs to my Mum's flat and I'm all, "I'm home! Spent the night at a friend's, no biggie!" and she breaks a dish and starts sobbing and crying, and he runs up right after me holding a Missing poster of my face, and he's like, "So sorry, 12 months not hours."" Rose grinned cheekily and shook her head. "So then my Mum is all freaked out, and thinks he's some sort of pervert from the internet." Be fair, first time meeting the Doctor, that's an easy impression to get. "And he's like "I am a real Doctor!" and she slapped him!" Rose practically roared with laughter. It still tickled her to no end.
She waved a hand. "So the reason the TARDIS -- least I think it's the TARDIS, not just his bad drivin' -- Didja knows there's a Manual for the TARDIS?! I was so mad!" A headshake, "Anyway, so I think she got us back so late an' put him and my Mum, an' Lady Me, and Mickey -- that's my ex-boyfriend, my Mom had him arrested and investigated for my murder four times that year--" If you got the impression that Rose and the Doctor together never shut up and kept babbling back and forth, you'd be very much correct, Romana. "Was because this family called the Slitheen were fakin' the first alien crash landin' ta Earth. They were going ta instigate World War Three and sell off the nuclear slag of Earth for cheap recession fuel. Later on, Blon Fel-Fotch from the family escaped and was gonna blow up the Earth from Cardiff to try to use a space surfboard to get out, and Jack stopped her, and that is how we all got to go to--" DEEP BREATH. "Raxacoricofalltrickle-down-economics." She had it once. She will get it again. Someday.
