(Four is delirious with delight!)
There was also the benefit of being able to get lost and simply listen to the woods. The crackle of branches bending about, strange birds calling out to each other, leaves whispering about a new arrival wondering about.
Wait.
Four stops and stares up at the leaves, checking through the various little dandelions planted about. He nearly doesn't believe what he sees. Thinking his memories (and perhaps deep wishes) were coming through his psychic network instead of what was actually there. Because, quite simply, there was no way he could be seeing what was showing, nor could the flowers be showing what he was seeing.
Yet the whispers continued and the twist in his stomach over rode the flutter of 'what if' and 'not so' thought in his mind.
"Well, worst that can happen is I end up eaten by some sort of beast. Wouldn't be the first time." He tugged his hair before finally taking off in the direction the wind blew.
He froze the moment he saw her. Just as he remembered her. Great Rassilon but she look so delicate, trekking along in the woods. There is a moment of hesitation, the barest breath of fear that it was still just an illusion frowning around the clearing before him. He growled at himself and stepped forward.
"Romana!" He cried out, stopping just short of arms length from her. The 'what ifs' were getting louder and the 'not sos' were roaring, but he held a breath and waited.

Romana stops short in her walking, throwing her arms up just a bit in exasperation as he approaches.
"Doctor! There you are. I was beginning to think you'd just wandered off for good." She wants to be annoyed, and on some level she is, but she's smiling anyways. It's always relieving to have things be going right (for a change), even if she's not sure how they both managed to get away from the Tardis and from each other in what seemed like such a short timespan. Seemed is always the operative word, though, isn't it?
"What's going on? Do you know what's happened to the Tardis?"
no subject
"Me? Wander off? Come now!I never wander! I know exactly where I'm going." Oh, his arms are getting that odd feeling again. He shoves his hands into his pockets, still grinning brightly at his companion.
"Oh you will love this! We're no where near my TARDIS. In fact, you could even say we aren't in the same dimension." Seemed is the most objective word in situations involve a mad man in a striped scarf.
no subject
If her expression is any clue, she does not, in fact, 'love this'. It looks much more like she feels that the Doctor isn't taking this situation as seriously as he probably ought to be-- but then again, when does he ever?
"Another dimension? But how?" And, more importantly, "I don't suppose you've thought up a plan to get us out of this dimension without your Tardis." And how did he even manage to get separated from it?
no subject
"oh, Romana! We're in another dimension! One I doubt you've ever even heard of let alone traveled to." He tugs at his hair, oh if she only knew. There were ways out, but they were complicated and he had no control over any of it.
He'd gotten over that part rather quickly but. He blew a bit of air out and smiled, "The dimension decided to bring us here. This dimension and city we're in, all of it, is the work of a sentient creature. Nautilus it's called. Hard to believe but it's true." And they were trapped but he did not want to say that out loud. He couldn't. It had a ring of finality to it, far more than any regeneration had.
Of course he could speak those words to his other selves and Leia and Rose but Romana? No, he couldn't do that to her. Not know that he understood why.
"Would you like to take a look around? The oaks are very friendly in this part of the forest you know."
no subject
For the most part, she just outright bewildered as he speaks. Of course she'd noticed that he'd dodged her question about leaving, but just because the Doctor didn't have a solution yet doesn't mean there wasn't one. There are ways to leave without a TARDIS, and ways to get it back if they've truly lost it. But the whole scenario is so much-- if it were just another dimension, that might have been fine. If it were just a sentient being calling them somewhere, that might be alright, too. But both?
"Well, you are right on that front. It is hard to believe. What were we called here for? Are we meant to do something?" That always tends to be the case; everywhere they end up, there's someone to save and something to stop. It's never just a normal trip, not with him.
She has half a mind to call him out for acting so flippantly in this situation, but it's probably a good sign that he is. Stranded though they may be, at least for now, they don't seem to be in any danger if his attitude is any indication. She finally gives him a small shrug and an even smaller smile. "Perhaps the oaks have got some good news for us, then. I don't suppose I'd mind a walk if we've truly got nothing better to do."

And oh does he love that idea. Chaos everywhere, nothing predictable or continuous. It was wonderful and his eyes practically gleam with his own chaotic madness. Forgoing the awkward feeling he'd had, afer all so many revelations but...no that is for another time, since that is what he has been given here.
"Excellent!" New habits have formed adn he takes her hand, heading towards the more round about way to the Southern Market place. "This place is fascinating you know! Everything here has some sort of thought, and we ah, what was the word...ah yes! We awakened have the ability to change and meld the chaos by sheer force of will." Something Four has been enjoying greatly.
no subject
"To power the chaos? And how are we meant to do that?" Whatever it entails, it certainly sounds like something he would be good at. He's walking chaos all on his own, and she can tell from his expression he's taken with the idea. That would explain why he hasn't tried to find a way to leave, then. With that much chaos in a place that isn't really corporeal, she can only imagine the state of flux it must be in. Of course the Doctor would be interested in that.
The hand-grabbing is somewhat familiar, at least, and she's glad to have a way out of the trees in any case. "Melding chaos sounds like a task that suits you," she has to point out. "You're certainly stubborn enough to have the will for it."
no subject
He thought he'd gotten better at this.
"With something called Bending. Very entertaining." He chuckled and stopped as they reached the edge of the tree line. A small rather archaic, but welcoming, looking market is directly before them. Chaos he may be, but Four was beginning to enjoy it immensely. Controlling the chaos and allowing it to somewhat control him. Even if he hated it at times.
"If you believe me to be stubborn, you should meet me when I am older. You'll get the chance, you know." Though with her here, he was no longer the youngest Timelord about!
