I did! Briefly :3
"I am alone". His friends had mysteriously abandoned him in a strange land. What he would have given to see them or even
Caldina. She was like an older sister to him, one of the only people who ever had expressed a genuine concern for his well-being. Crestfallen, he wished he could just hp on a floating rock and make a hasty retreat to get some time to himself to figure this all out... but that was not to be."Kay-line-ya...?" He repeated it back because it sounded just too ridiculous for words. "What sort of a name is that?" He didn't want to talk. He really didn't but talking at least could help push some of his darker emotions aside, even if it was only temporary. "Ascot... and I'm not looking to be anyone's special project." The rude edge to his voice was a clear defensive mechanism. "Just tell me where this place is and the quickest route out of here..."
Cool
"This place is called Nautilus. If you have legends in your world about Ravellon, or the heart of Chaos and Shadows... this is it." And she hates it here, which is clear on her face. "And if I knew a way home that actually WORKED, I'd be long gone."

Folding his arms in front of him, he just wondered where to go from here, or even what to do.
"None of that stuff is familiar to me...".
Then the worst of it. Dropping his hands to his side, he exclaimed," We're really stuck here?!" There had been the possibility of leaving this place before, and of things going back to the way they should be but she'd just ripped that carpet out from under his feet.

She rested her hands on her dagger pommels and snorted. "Yeah. It's my job. So what's wrong with having a job? I don't care what the *.... what they say about this place not having money. I'm going to work, and the Task Force is enough like the Hawks in some ways. Except they expect me to be able to talk to people without ticking them off." She spat to the side, then winced, thinking about how badly Marrin would shred her for teaching a kid that habit.
"Some people say they can go back. Say it's just like watching your life play out. No control, but you can go the... go on back. Through the portals. Tried it. Bounced." More or less. She really hated portals.

“I didn’t say there was anything wrong with having a job... but now that you mention money, you’re not even getting paid for this?” Even in his dealings with Zagato he was going to get something out of it. “You must be dumber than you look.” Why work for nothing as her speech seemed to imply. It opened the door to the idea that she might actually care about helping other people naturally, but it was more prudent at that time to be insulting.
“Then what would be the point in going back if you couldn’t interact with anything?” Did that mean he would really never see his friends again?

She snorted rudely. "I'm not getting paid, no. And it bothers the ****s out of me." Then she winced that she had slipped and cursed. ***** it all anyway. She huffed, missing Marrin. Harder to forget about cursing with a large cat woman flexing her claws at you. Not that she'd ever draw blood in front of the children. The reminder was still enough, though. Kaylin tried to fix it in her mind. "And I think there would be a line of people back home waiting to tell you there is no way in any *.... any world that I could possibly be stupider than I look. But you know what, kid? No one is charging me for my room. No one is charging for my food, or my ale. And more? Complaining is the gods' given right of someone who is doing something useful. I enjoy complaining, so I better be doing something useful." A smirk.
"The point? Not being here, mostly." She did still kind of hate this place. And she missed Ybelline. And her job. And Marcus and his wives. And Marrin and the kids. And Evanton. And yeah... even the Dragons. She wouldn't admit missing Severn, but she did. And she missed being close enough to run Nightshade through, even if that would only ever be a fond daydream.

"....... You don't look that stupid.... I guess." He backpedaled. Plus there was something amusing about her desire to complain. He could relate to that.
"Tell me about it. The last place I want to be right now is here..." Echoing her words.
While that last thought of hers makes my head hurt....
She snorted a bit. "You really must be from another world then," she said, but there was an amused quirk to her lips. "Either that or you had someone like Marrin around to cuff some manners into you." Marrin would adore this kid. What she didn't know is how much this kid would adore Marrin on sight. Marrin would have been considered a monster in Ceiphro at a glance. Then again, given what happened to her son... even in Kaylin's world, the word monster had a painful sort of power.
She nodded. "Yeah. This place is kind of the pits. But at least there is food. And there is good work we can be doing." But... who took care of the kids? The only kid she knew here was Link, maybe she should ask him if the adults he lived with could help find this kid a home?
