Gulping, he stood as stiff as a board unsure of how this news would be taken. His breath caught in his throat.
"Yes. Yes I did." Now that you mention it. "For some reason they call us the Wakened... or something like that now... I'm not sure what it means".
no subject
What he wasn't safe from was the darkened brooding of his former leader. The Wakened... He felt anything but. All of this was more like walking through a dream where nothing was real, nothing actually mattered, with Emeraude gone... there was nothing.
"It means we were foolish to answer."

The longer the exchange the easier it was becoming for the aforementioned "small mage" to finally ease up a little. Sure, he was still reeling from his own losses, nothing could replace his friends, but at least he felt slightly less alone with someone who hadn't fit in with the status quo back home either. You know, now that he was certain that Zagato couldn't take out any bottled up rage on him.
"...." Letting the weight of the priest's words fall heavily on his diminutive shoulders .... he had to agree. "If we hadn't.... maybe there would still be something to be done..."

Ascot had lost his friends and Zagato had lost his love.
"I failed her..."
no subject
Was... she the person he failed?
Looking to the ground, Ascot spotted a loose rock, in his frustration he saw fit to kick it. Zagato had failed some girl, and Ascot had failed to protect his creatures.
And what had become of Caldina?AWWW ASCOT!
"We need to find a way to return to Cephiro."
This time he did look back to the child. It seemed they were to be allies again, this time in their quest to return home.
As long as they still had a home to return to.In a world this big there must be a school, books or scrolls that might tell more than either of them knew now. This was the first step."Ascot. Take that road behind you and look for a map or a center of learning. We must better understand this world."

Looking up at the much taller man, he fell back into his old role. Zagato would call the shots, and he would try to follow as best as he was able.
With a firm nod,"I guess that's as good a start as any." Part of him wanted to ask questions about what Zagato had eluded to before but it didn't feel like an appropriate time. The urgency to return home was paramount. "So.. how's this going to work? If I do find what we're looking for then how will we meet back up?"
no subject
“We will meet back at this spot.”
Lame he knows, actually having to walk back here but without the magic of Cephiro to aide them they would just have to make the best of it.
“Do not get lost.”
He would hate to have to go chasing after you…
no subject
“Oh. Okay.” Ascot replied flatly.
Don’t get lost? What does he think I am? A Child?!. Well yeah. Just the thought of Zagato having to hunt him down, made Ascot feel a little embarrassed. Yes, he would put forth the effort to not have that happen. Turning to walk away, he paused one last time.
“Oh, and there’s one more thing that I should probably mention.” Looking over his shoulder,” I ran into that meddlesome master mage earlier.”
no subject
"Master Mage Clef?"
Really this is the kind of information you should share first not last. It changed everything. Walking the streets with no magic just became more dangerous.
"He is no longer made of stone."
More statement than question since why would Ascot mention it otherwise.
"What can you tell me about him?"
Read that as do we have to worry about his magic.
no subject
No reprimand came.
"One and the same." He affirmed. The stone thing had puzzled him as well.
"I know that he's able to use some abilities here. He can summon creatures and make this spherical shield thing.... I'm not sure what else." Don't think he's not bitter than someone else can summon monsters and he can't. "His creatures are a lot smaller here than they were back home... I doubt it could carry more than one to two people at a time.."
no subject
If Clef could do it then surely a former High Priest could as well. Some how he suspected Ascot capable of it too. The boy had always shown great promise as a beast master.
"But if his creatures are smaller then it seems his abilities are also some what weaker then they were on Cephiro."
This is something they might be able to use to their advantage...
"We need to learn the magic of this world."
no subject
Still, he listened attentively to Zagato's assessment. "I guess so."
He was almost ready to continue his search when Zagato spoke once more. "So, maybe I can find some scrolls on that too..." It's worth a shot right? I mean what else were they going to do in no where's land?
no subject
"Scrolls would be most useful."
He would look or them too... since just sending a minion out to search, manually, without any magic, would take ages by himself.
