Raiden doesn't judge by height, which is a good thing when he realizes how short this individual really is. He stays back a little ways, enough to be friendly but not require them to crane their neck to look up at him. He offers a respectful nod of his head.

"Sounds like a place I could come to like. I am Raiden, I'm grateful for the welcome, Clef."

Have a very warm smile. "And we are grateful to have you among us, Raiden. There is much to learn about this place, and I am more than happy to teach when you are ready. If you would prefer to settle in first, I can guide you to a welcome house."

"There is no time better than the present to learn." A place of his own? As much as he enjoyed his time with the Shaolin and the temples, it was strange to think of staying in a single place. He would get to it when he was armed with more knowledge.

Clef nodded. "Very well. You might wish to have a seat. Is your world one more based in Magic or Science?"

Raiden looks around, and contents himself with sitting seiza on the softest looking piece of ground he notices.

"Thank you Clef. My realm is one of magic." For now at least. Raiden knew there was coming an age of science, but that was for humankind, and not him.

He nodded and sat on a stone, which pit him only a bit below eye level. "Then this should be easier for you, than some. Magic in this realm is driven by imagination and will. Any powers you might have had at home are, for the moment, gone. But they can be relearned through the Bending Of Reality, or Bending for short. I have taught this art to many new comers before, and would be honored to teach you now, if you wish."

That news about the powers being gone isn't news to Raiden, but the general knowledge that this is the effect of the realm on others is a surprise. His shoulders pull back a little at that revelation, but not out of wariness.

"I noticed. It's not the first realm to have that effect, but at least it's not just me. I would be honored to learn the art of Bending from you." Learning? To use magic? It was a fantastically weird concept to Raiden but he was willing to go along if it restored something of his normal self. It was unnerving to feel so completely normal and human.

He nodded. "Place your hands before yourself, as if grasping something lightly, and close your eyes," he said, guiding him as he had guided Alya and others. This was part of his job, both as Ascended and as Guru. It was what Nash and Suzaku and so many others did for him when he arrived. It was what he had done for so many back home. It was to the core of who he was, storm or no storm.

Raiden takes the meditative posture, clearly comfortable with it as he releases a calming breath to settle his mind and keep it open to Clef's instructions. He is practiced in focusing his will in Earthrealm, and to draw upon himself is a habit as old as the world he comes from.

"Now, in your hands, picture something you are very familiar with. It can be something fairly simple. A fruit, a hat, a pen. Something you understand the creation of, or at least how it looks and feels inside and out. Focus your will as you picture it, imagining it appearing in your hands...."

Something he is familiar with and understands it's creation? That would be the very core of his magic, his lightning. He physically settles, imagining as he does that his connection to Earthrealm isn't gone, and that he's summoning his lightning to his hands simply to hold it there.

"Find the feeling of it, think what it feels like to hold it in your hand." He has no clue that Raiden is going for lightning. "Feel the weight of it and the lightness. Smell it. If it has a taste, thing of it's taste. Imagine it.... then will it into being."

Raiden's expression is one of calm concentration, he's not forcing things but he's taking the lesson quite seriously. He exhales and feels a warmth tingling his nerves. He focuses on it, and there's a weak little pop of static between two fingertips. He keeps his eyes closed but he can't help the faint smirk before he calms again. It's day one, so he probably won't get much further than this, but it feels good to have that sensation at his fingers.

"Might I ask what exactly you are trying to create?" hearing that pop, he kind of has to ask.

Raiden opens his eyes, looking down at his fingers which still tingle gently with the static gathered there.

"My lightning." He inhales carefully, eyes concentrated on his hand and little flickers of sparks wiggle between his fingers. The look on his face isn't pride, it's fondness, as if he's found a lost item of great value to him.

The slightest wince. "Why don't we start with something that has less destructive potential until you can master control in this new realm, alright?" he asked, gently but cautiously. He could shield, of course, but lighting came from without as much as within, and he hadn't practiced any sort of shields specific to the unique properties it had....

Raiden looks confused by that statement, but lets the flickering die out from between his fingers.

"Then what would you suggest?" His lightning was his very essence, he's not certain what might work.

"A fruit you enjoy, perhaps, a tool or weapon with which you are innately familiar. A piece of clothing, even."

Clef can use lightning magic himself, of course, but trying to shield against someone else's..... without negating their ability to call it at all... he would have to study that. Perhaps Nita would help....
