Cute. Let me guess, you're the type that likes to say only boring people get bored.

[Len tilts his head, leveling an unimpressed look at her.]

That's the thing about Bending, though, isn't it. It's limited by what we already know. Suppose I wanted to read a book. I could Bend one up, sure. But in order to get it right, I would already need to know everything about it. Not just the physical details like the paper or the binding but its actual contents. To make it, I would already need to know every word of every line of every paragraph. Now, [-he wiggles an index finger-] actually getting good at Bending could be an interesting challenge, but there's only so many times you can do variations on the same theme before the law of diminishing returns kicks in.

And, sure, there are plenty of things that I could do back home that can keep me busy here. But the very nature of this place means that the things that I liked most there are no longer an option. If I wanted, say, the Stanley Cup, that's suddenly something I can accomplish with Bending, but I wouldn't be flexing the skill-set that I want to flex. I'm not interested in the score. What I want is the game. So while I'm either reworking that game for the setting or finding a new one, I didn't think it would be such a grave ordeal to ask if there was yoga in the park at 9:00.

Well, you're the one who said it, not me.

[Equally unimpressed.]

I wouldn't say that's entirely true. Naturally when you're just starting out it would be very difficult to create anything you aren't incredibly familiar with. The more you go at it, the easier it becomes to create things far more intricate with far less attention to detail. I wouldn't doubt that one could recreate something from only a distant memory, if they're got the will for it. But, well, I'm not going to say you're wrong about practice being the boring bit. Creating endless piles of apples in order to learn how to Bend up a pear doesn't benefit anyone much.

Perhaps you ought to clarify, then? Being bored because Nautilus lacks Gladiatorial death matches or whatever you had from your home world isn't quite the same as being bored because there's no yoga in the park. Everyone's experience is quite subjective, you know, no one can tell you what might satisfy you.

Generally speaking, though, I think the city would much prefer we stay focused on our reason for being here. If you're looking for standard leisure activities or entertainment, you'll likely find that the only "fun" Nautilus provides is in the form of reality storms.
