And if Rose wanted to compare notes someday, River was rather sure she had Rose beat on keeping secrets from him or even knowing him better than anyone else. However, River also knew that there were times where The Doctor didn't need to be coddled. It never lead to anything good and never would.
For a few moments of walking, River was quiet as she simply took in the scenery. Then, when she did speak, her voice was quiet and light.
"You know, when I married him, the entire universe watched as we said our vows and I knew that he was loved by more than just me. Sharing him is what one can expect when they love a man like him. So, I find it mildly offensive when someone tells me how to handle how I interact with him. Especially when I've been doing it my entire adult life."

Instead, she purposely feigned disinterest with a large yawn as if it was just too big to stifle with her fist.
"I don't handle the Doctor," she narrowed her eyes on River Song evenly. "No one does. I made him live. I made him want to live. I don't share. So if you want to catfight for him, or try to be generous and let me spend my marriage with him how he wants, that's on you. But if you don't want the benefit of my experiences, because it's not you? Yeah. I get it." She did too. Rose would kick an older/younger self of herself in the shins and figure out how to keep all of him with her at all times, and probably let her 19-year-old self be with Fluffy, if he wanted it, but at this point, she expected he'd be as greedy as her, and she was glad for that!
"But I offered. And he doesn't know you. I was hella nervous talking to Sunshine and Prince Charming at first. I lucked out that the Doctor here when I got here wasn't that far off from my timeline. But if you don't want my help, I showed you the guide, you have a phone of some kind on you yourself, find it, find whichever of him you want, mess up however you want, and I'll leave you be, yeah?"
Rose rolled her eyes and folded her arms. "For the record, he asked me over a year ago, and I only started wearing my ring pretty recently. Fer him. I didn't want to upset his past. But no, you do you," she shrugged, "I don't really care." She was surprised by how true that was.

"Did you now? Then I suppose that's something we have in common, though I have a feeling we went about it in completely different ways. But, my way definitely made quite the impression on his future self. Otherwise, he wouldn't have proposed and married me on the spot." She just smirked faintly. "Did he do an Earth wedding with you, or a Timelord wedding?" Part of her was actually curious on that fact.
As for the rest... River just smiles. "I believe I've already stated that I don't mind sharing him. However, lets make one thing clear. I love all of him. No matter the face, no matter the time period and I understand there are times where he doesn't know me yet, or love me yet. But, that will never stop me from loving him and that will not change how I interact with him. That's just how our relationship works. I am there when he needs me the most and I am perfectly happy with that."

But she smiled at the rest, and offered River another handshake and a very warm grin indeed. "Then I think we can be friends at least. Whatever the face, he's always my best friend. A friend I never knew I needed, but was always missing. Just give him enough space to acclimate, don't force it, yeah? He's so cagey sometimes!" She rolled her eyes, laughed and shook her head. "I don't need to tell you."

River raised an eyebrow and shook Roses hands with a faint smirk. "At the very least we can try, but, I reserve the right to slap him if he's being a colossal idiot. Sometimes, he really needs it." Or to be shot at... but, that was a completely different story.
As for letting him adjust to her, that goes without saying if he already knew who she was. Now hopefully, Rose wouldn't do anything to really piss River off in the future.

She closed her eyes and shook her head. "You're underestimating how much he's already hurting."

Rose sighed and rolled her eyes, pushing hair back with a hand. "And two, I don't know ... what changes him in the future to allow that sort of thing, but--"
She pinched the bridge between her eyes, not too unlike the 9th Doctor himself.
"You do that to him here, you're going to have way more than just me mad at you," Rose folded her arms, staring River Song down. "Ten's not even the same as when you met him, he's changed here. That's the point of Nautilus. This is the city of change. He's been here a year, and he's adopted like 11 kids. With me. Connie, Will, Kirika, Alya, Nino, Marinette, Adrien, Chat, and Ladybug. Jack and Ianto aren't kids o' course, Jack's even older than the Doctor, but they're in the Box too. And the TARDIS's soul isn't here. Whatever you think you know about him, forget it. Because yeah, his core is always the same. The important things."
She pointed to the gun holster, "Yelling at Jack and Ianto for guns, and not being fond of Kirika and Dirk for having theirs, for instance. Wanting to help people even if they don't always deserve it, and not wanting to let me do worse than just Rassilon in the face."
She pushed her hair back again. "But 9 doesn't like to talk to most people and would rather just be a cat or a wolf. Things he couldn't do in his universe, because Nautilus, are you gettin' it yet? Four specifically is trying out emotions and has been through some really rough storms, one where he lived over a million years being the worst kind of Rassilon, and one that made him a pony, and one that made him human. Just -- give him the respect for that bein' a thing, yeah? That's why I said try 8 first, because he's--"
She held up a hand and ticked off fingers. "The most approachable, the most easy-going, the least hardest hit by storms, not so riled up by Lady Me because I made sure to take the brunt of that, ta, Prince Charming of Darkness. He asked me how well I knew the Doctor, and that was when I'd just gotten 9 and 10 to stop fighting, 10 made me wipe his memories and I was keeping secrets from himself. A lot of 'em. So I straight out told him better than he knew himself." Rose rolled her eyes, "Guess how well he took that. He told me to tell him the rest of himself Valeyard had come!"
Rose shook her head. "It doesn't matter how well you know him in your universe, he's changed here, and all of him -- he's still the Doctor. Always. Even the face of his that refuses to be called that, but if you go around trying to make him be how you expect, he'll buck that and do the opposite on purpose. So would I. So would anyone, yeah?"
A sigh. "Most o' Ten's problems are things he does to himself, but if you go around slapping him, no matter how angry he makes you, you won't have just me to answer to. I won't even talk to you, I'll just let General Leia chew you out instead! Or worse, he'll give you the saddest puppy eyes ever and make you feel about yea tall," she held her fingers up an inch apart, face scrunched.

"First off, you need to work on your nicknames. Second, the one you're referring to as '10' is one I haven't met yet and I have a feeling there's a very good reason for it. Otherwise, he wouldn't have given me his screwdriver before I left Darillium. So, thank you for the spoilers, Rose. You really need to work on that."
Really, she did. As for the rest? River debates for a moment. "As for the rest, your '9' sounds like the one that came right after the Time War, so how he's acting is what I would expect. The Doctor never took things like that well and never will. What he needs in moments like that is time, space and to be around people who care for him whether he wants to admit it or not."
She drew in a deep breath as she thought about the other things Rose was saying about The Doctor. "And you know what, your '10' adopting children? That doesn't surprise me either. The Doctor has always loved children, it's one of his more endearing traits. As for the gun thing, he gets over that eventually." Though, he was never the one to use them. It was always someone else and more often than not, it was River doing the things he couldn't do.
As for the rest though, she may actually take a little pity on his younger selves. They sounded like they needed her more than the other two idiots did, maybe.
"As for what changes him in the future? People who loved him did and none of them were you."

Ten adopting kids sounds right to River, and so does Nine, just because of the war? Sod that.
"Right, we're done."
At least Rose was, it didn't really seem like River wanted to talk to her anyway, so what was the point? Worse than Fluffy and Sunshine. And also, screw her on the nicknames, she didn't come up with any of them, just Sunshine and that was song based, and then 8 earned Prince Charming. Worse than Fluffy earning that, ironically because he was sharp and prickly! So done.
Rose didn't have an effect on the Doctor? Sure. Let him speak for himself there. Rose hadn't said she changed him, because she hadn't tried to, Nautilus did. Let this woman face the city and storms herself, THEN she could try to fight with Rose.

Even with Rose laughing and as angry as River could get, she was forcing herself to relax and just...smile. Honestly, even if the Doctor had changed here, River would always be where he needed her whether he realized it or not. That's just how it was and just how it will always be as far as she was concerned.
However, knowing that a younger version of himself actually married Rose was a little... irritating. She would really like to know what he was thinking this time around!
"Besides, If you think his past selves are a handful and emotional, he's just as bad as he's older in some regards. At least he's learned how to cope without being completely suicidal.... and I made damn sure he knew that wasn't an option."

Wicked, brilliant, the only way to actually get under Rose's skin, and therefore ultimately evil.
She did her best to keep her face smooth, practicing from V and having to deal with the Doctor himself.
Rose wanted to insist the Doctor hadn't been suicidal. But he'd been pretty damn close when she met him. And it wasn't suicide that killed him in the aborted timelines that never were... not... exactly. But it wasn't completely not either. It definitely toed a fine line.
Still, of all the things that upset Rose with Lady Me, every time without fail it was him being tortured and miserable and where was Rose?
Lady Me thought she died, but she didn't.
Jack...
She'd have to ask Jack.
For a small moment, she truly wished it was just an alternate timeline that caused Lady Me and marrying River Song and abandoning Jack all over again. The way Fluffy wanted to believe.
Something must have happened versus Davros. But if she'd died, she knew he would have been a billion times worse than just suicidal and unable to let go of Lady Me and whatever happened with Clara.
The Hybrid. The Confession Dial. Rassilon.
Rose knew too much, and yet still not enough.
All she wanted to do was hide behind the Doctor and without thinking about it, she sent the jumbled bundle of nerves and anxiety as a warning to Four that she was coming right over to hide in his jacket.
And then remembered Ten wanted to be the one she came to.
Which was... tricky. He didn't know, couldn't know half of what she was anxious about and frozen solid where she stood, Rose started biting a finger in thought. She had gone straight to him when Lady Me upset her, of course she had -- and that had been... if not a mistake, certainly disastrous.
Rose closed her eyes and took a deep breath, and set Ten the psychic message too. Coward she might be, she didn't care.
"That's..."
Curious.
Impossible.
Where was Rose?
A small bit of fear completely siezed her for a moment. He wouldn't lock her up and take away her freedom, would he? No. That wasn't just from Nautilus, but it was worsened by him splintering. Trying to exercise some control over things.
Um. Right. Reality bomb. If there was ever a reason to feel out of control and overprotective...
No. Rose would sooner die. So where was she? He wasn't suicidal when she was there. Not ever. She gave him reasons not to be. Made him want to live.
She closed her eyes again and psychically grabbed Ten's hand hard, locking her fingers in with his.
"I'm glad you were there for him for that?" Rose offered, wincing all the same. It was true, but it shouldn't be possible. He should be there with her. She needed a spinny chair. She chewed her bottom lip in thought.
She closed her eyes and shook her head. "It's a punishment for him," she whispered softly, looking River sharply in the eyes. She wasn't sure River was as protective of the Doctor as she thought she was, but then Rose couldn't see either how such information could hurt him. Even to Rassilon.
Still, Rose chewed up her finger, her anxiety tightening and the desire to run straight to the Doctor and not stop for anything growing by the millisecond. "The cost of surviving the Time War. Of course he hates it!" Rose scowled and rubbed her face with the back of her hand, debating ditching River midsentence by turning into a wolf to run away.
"Forcing him to live..."
Was what Rose had done.
Her scowl dropped into sorry instantly.
{I'm sorry, Jack.}
She closed her eyes.
Best intentions. He'd made it wonderful. What happened to the Doctor? Tortured by Rassilon for information about the hybrid, for what? FOR WHAT?
A gulp.
"Isn't enough," she steadily looked at River, but backed away flexing her muscles. She was so going to wolf transform and bolt!
"Giving him reasons to live..." Her eyes welled with genuine emotion. Genuine gratitude. "If you've done that, you have my thanks."
Not waiting for River's answer --
Rose transformed into a wolf, turned tail and bolted away as fast as she could.

Did she know Rose's fate? Maybe, maybe not. It was hard to tell what she might know and what she didn't considering how much she learned traveling with him and even from the Tardis herself. Then again, Spoilers.
So, she let the girl work it out and just waited until she was done. Though, before River could say anything, the girl became a wolf and bolted. Well, that was a new one on her to say the very least. It also seemed to cement a few things Rose said about this place to River and that alone made her even more curious to see the effects this place had on The Doctor.
River also had a feeling, things were going to be a lot more complicated than usual when they finally met up again.
