Thoughts of a Kaylin
A deep breath, then she gave him what she thought was the most **** relevant piece of information he lacked at the moment. The rest... Well if he were Marcus, she'd snarkily offer to write a report. But this was Tiamaris. He'd read the **** thing, and probably whine about her handwriting as he did. ******. "Barren is dead. Both under the imperial writ.... and YOUR authority." Tiamaris was smart enough to get what she meant, and if not... she had something to razz him about for, oh, forever. Whatever forever was left if the fief had fallen, anyway.
Of course... If somehow he didn't remember Tara or what happened after.... Then he wouldn't remember that she can now swear in Dragon and High Baranni. Despite the situation, that thought cheered her immensely.
And right on its heels came a possible epiphany. What if..... Oh. OH. What if Tara somehow tapped one of the storms to tap into the storm they had been in... there were whole times when she had lost contact with Tiamaris. And he was a *****ed immortal, he could keep a secret... what if this was like meeting younger Nightshade? What if this Tiamaris really was from that storm, and will be dropped back the moment after he was taken... what if this whole **** time he knew why she vanished from the journey to the West March?
Did... would he have told Severn? Teela? Ohhhhh..... if this was true she was so going to kick him when she got home. Cause no matter who he told, he didn't warn HER.
Sanaabalis. He told..... She almost started swearing there and then. THAT was why she had to carry the ****ed mark of ownership? Because she'd need it HERE?!
And thoughts of a Tiamaris!
"... I see. If that voice had called me from a later moment, I would have either refused to answer, or have lost something I never thought I would find. Not while the Emperor still rules."
It'd take some time to digest that thought, still - there's a difference between being told something and living through it - but! The thought of him, ruling a fief! He almost laughed.
"And this Tara-" letting the word stir a little, he added, "For Tower, I can assume?"
There's just a glint of gold in those eyes now, Kaylin; he's still wary, still suspicious, but being able to talk is calming those nerves.
YAY
Still, shock was always a fun eye colour, in any race. And there might be a small self satisfied smirk in having provoked it. "If Tara arranged for you to come here, then we can presume the fief is still safe. If she didn't.... " she didn't need to finish that sentence. Because the fief HAD to have a lord. Only ***** reason Nightshade was still this side of breathing. Even Marcus was ready to kill him at this point.

At least Kaylin can pick and choose which embarrassments she has to re-live through?
Tiamaris let out a long-suffering sigh.
"I take it you've spent a fair amount of time in this place?"
You know what's coming next, fellow student of Lord Sanabalis~

"Way too **** much." Oh come on, Tiamaris. Cut her a break.... She's been through way too **** much for lessons....

Tiamaris rolled his eyes.
"If you've been paying attention to what's happened here, then you are able to give a report on it."
He stretched his wings, aching somewhat at the thought that, while he hadn't quite been stripped of a hoard, he'd been looking forward to a good flight. And until there was concrete proof the Outcaste was not here, he could not fly here either.
"Or, if you're certain you can't, can you at least take us to someone who can?"
Bit of a shot in the dark, there, but nothing ventured, nothing gained!

"There is no money here, worse, there are no ****** laws. No ruling body. There is a Task Force, but we're supposed to work on obvious morality and so far the one arrest I made was let go with a *****ed warning because there was no *****ed law saying he COULDN'T leave a ***** ton of broken glass where kids were known to play. One of those kids was furious that someone killed that same man over the public mirror network, but that we weren't allowed to arrest her. It was clearly a suicide, however," a one shouldered shrug. She hardly had to point out to a Dragon who was also a Hawk that *****ing off a Dragon counted as suicide and the Dragon was not legally accountable. She might hate that, but it was still the law as she knew it.
"Everyone in this ******ed place has magic, but because it's Ravellon of course none of it works like anyone expects. It's worse than the **** chaos sto..... And you haven't lived through that yet!" Have a long diatribe in French, Leontine, German, and Elantran that ends with the one curse word she knows in Dragon.
Have fun with that.

He just knew this situation was going to give him a headache.
"Because why would Ravellon have laws?" he muttered, then shook his head and lowered the claw. Tried to transform back- and couldn't.
He was strongly considering joining you in swearing, Kaylin. But first:
"You picked up that last word in... the future, I take it?" From whom? would be his next question.

"'Tried?'" Never a good sign.
"In any case, how large is this... city? If this manifestation counts as a city. And who else is trapped, here?"
If trapped was the right word - let alone the word others chose to use. Chaos.

"Smaller than Elantra. Less populated. Still enough to be concerning, especially giving some of the powers of some of the people here. Did I mention no laws?" she asked, scowling a bit.
