Actually... as unbelievable as it might sound, you've been here for several minutes already. Time works very differently in the User-world compared to in-system, and what seems like a long time there, really isn't much here.

Huh, no kidding? Wait, does that mean Users compile a lot more slowly than sprites do? I can't imagine the time difference being that huge.

[Clu nodded.]

I did some calculations based on what I know from my system, and the ratio came out as roughly 1:50.

Though I think we may have settled whether or not we're from systems connected to the same User-world; where I'm from, programs don't compile gradually like Users seem to. We spend time in beta, of course, but for the most part, we tend to look pretty much the same from the moment we're written.

That's different from my system, Enzo's only 10 right now. he was 01 a while ago but his Compile Day was a big success. Albeit with some minor hiccups. He looks like a young User actually.

Good to hear it worked out, hiccups notwithstanding.

I gotta ask though... is everyone in the systems you're from as colorful as you? Where I'm from, most things that don't glow are fairly monochrome.

More or less. Color denotes health after all. Sprites, binomes, viruses, everything is colorful in my system and in the supercomputer and generally in the net.

[Clu nods his understanding.]

So kinda like circuit glow is for program from my system then. A normal glow like this is healthy, but if they're dim or flickering, that's bad. Too bright can be bad too though, depending on the circumstances; circuits that are consistently too bright means that a program is overcharged or overheated, since routing excess energy to surface circuits is part of how cooling works with us.

That's a lot different from my system, but at least I get the idea. So your program can become overclocked then? Mainframe's a small system, so trying to run big stuff can be taxing.

[Clu nods.]

I was written in a small system myself, so I know how that is. Even larger systems can have problems though, if they're mismanaged.

Yeah, we don't get the same upgrades as the Super Computer does. So we have to make due. It was certainly an adjustment to be honest.

Yeah. It can be difficult. Though there's some advantages to living in a small system too. For one thing, they tend to fly below the sensors of any major threats, because why bother expending the resources if that system has nothing you need?

You've got a point. Mainframe is basically closed off from the net, being that it's go outdated I/O ports, but we've had some dealings with software pirates before.

I've been called a pirate program myself, though I'm not generally. Of course; memory guards never were the smartest; tough customers in a fight, but generally not much in the processing department.

You have a point. Back where I come from, they're called the same thing too. But yeah, they need to deal with a lot of strange things once in a while. Considering that guardians have been working around the clock to get things settled. There's problems with viruses lately.

Sorry to hear that, man; viruses are nasty. Worse than gridbugs, and that's saying something. Hopefully you and the rest of the security suite will be able to handle it, though.

Well, let's hope so. The Guardians are all across the Net right now, and I'm in Mainframe. Or at least I was.
