He nodded, ascending. "The main room is just up this way. Books from a myriad different worlds on countless topics."

"No Vid Windows?" asked Bob as he strolled along the hallway looking at the books. Books. What an odd thing to call a codex.

"It's where we can access read.me files," said Bob. "It's a part of the net."

"Uh they're document files? Like your books but more tech standard."

"Oh. Computer things." He... remembered computers from two storms. Mostly. Somewhat. Well... he knew what they were. More or less.

"Yeah, I'm guessing you don't have any. I've been trying to call up a Vid Window for a while now." said Bob.

"Some people are from worlds that do. My world does not. Someone had to explain convection ovens to me. We may well be advanced magically, but there is much here to learn."

"What's a convection oven?" asked Bob, derailed momentarily.

Someone else who didn't know! He felt a little less stupid now. "Apparently in most worlds connected to this one, food is created by cooking or baking it before consumption. One of the ways to do that is a convection oven, which is essentially a self insulated metal heating box that cooks the food from all sides of the outside at once, working its way inward."

"Oh, I get it. It's kind of like how energy food is processed back home, only without the heat." said Bob. "Makes sense on so many levels."
