At the word gates, his ears perked forward. *That was what I asked about, how do I find a Priestess to open the gates?*

He considered, thought about what Ladvarian would ask if he was there. Oh. Right. Humans had that payment for work concept. *She would like meat? Payment for work? Then she'd open the gate? Send me back to Kaleer?* He considered. *Or H***.*

Either was fine.

The word Priestess was one that Link didn't quite understand. A Sage, maybe? There was only one of those in Nautilus, and Link wasn't about to bring a giant cat for a tete-a-tete with Zelda.

Link smiled slightly. "Payment is not needed in this city. Residents can learn, or, uh, relearn magic to create things they need. Some people still use barter, but, it isn't anything that's expected."

*Anyone can be trained to open the gates? Why do I have to spend time, if you could open them for me?* So much bafflement. And frustration. He wanted to be sure his cub was alright, and that the two human cubs KaeAskavi spent so much time with were. The time was coming when he would have to decide who to serve, but until it arrived, KaeAskavi was free to look after both, and as his sire Kaelas looked after him. It might be rare for Arcinains but he had wanted to be in his cub's life the way Yaslana got to be. The way the High Lord got to be around his pups.
