"We're in Nautilus and, by virtue of hearing the Call to wake, that makes us Wakened. Virtue might not be the right word for it, though; depends on who you ask.
"And, I'm Nita," she adds, offering one hand forward.
"Nita Callahan."
She doesn't ask for his name.
no subject
"Adam Parrish."
It was only polite. She had given her a name after all.
"I have to say I felt pretty awake before. Is 'waking up' the only way that this happens to people?"
That uneasy feeling was starting to progressively mutate into something much worse.
no subject
"And by 'a long time ago' I mean nine million years."
From bad to worse to... worse-r?
"We're not the only ones here, and the person who meddled with Waking has been taken down, but there's still a lot of ground to mend. Worlds that... still need to be put back the way they should be."
no subject
"Excuse me but what do you mean by 'Worlds'?"
no subject
"A lot of things, really. A world can consist of just one planet, or a solar system, or all the way to a multiverse, or set of multiverses - but it can also focus on just a patch of forest, or a beach, or an ordinary village."
She made a wry face.
"Though 'ordinary' is real subjective."
no subject
"Reality. A variety of realities."
Which was both easier and more difficult to accept.
"Your talkin' 'bout 'mending' so that must mean there's somethin' broken to them."
As he gradually became more distressed his accent became more pronounced. Or rather he just stopped working at hiding it.
"Do people inside those realities know somethin' is wrong? Or is that just people that 'wake up' here?"
Because if he was the only one...

Nita nodds.
"And it's more of the latter, unfortunately. Dreaming worlds can have their own problems that people know of and try to fix, but Flaws aren't like that."
Nita opens her mouth to say more, then closes it and Bends up one of the guides - Lelouch's.
"It's kind of unfair for me to dump the explanation on you all at once, though; so this has part of it."
no subject
"What-?!"
no subject
"It's called Bending. Here, everything is tied to willpower, and with effort we can alter reality, make matter... if there's anything in your world that sounds familiar to that, you can recreate it here, or learn something different."
no subject
"So...it's possible ta learn how ta do that?"
There was certainly no hiding his accent now. Not when he had bypassed distressed and gone into full-fledged alarm.
no subject
"There's a lot of people who'd be glad to help - I'd be too, even, if you're comfortable with that."
Or as comfortable as someone fresh out of their own world could be, anyway.
