Have a Hylian
"Hi! I can probably help. I've been here for a few years now. My name's Link! Um--how can I help you?"
no subject
His ears catch her off guard, but he seems very friendly, not threatening in the least. Then again, Certain Ghosts had seemed friendly, too, so she keeps her guard up.
"I ... was just sort of daydreaming out my bedroom window, and now I'm here. I'm not really sure what to do."
no subject
He scratched his right arm absently, while he spoke. "You're here because you answered the call to Wake. Do you have...something with you? Like a mirror, or a book, or something? That'll be your device. I can send you a copy of the guide to the city, if you like."
no subject
"I've never seen this before. I didn't have anything in my pockets a minute ago...!"
no subject
Link took his shield off his back, and after fiddling with its back for a few moments, sent a copy of Irene's guide to Lydia.
"You can contact anyone in the city on that. And they can contact you, too. Watch out though, because, sometimes, Nautilus likes to broadcast things to the everyone unannounced."
The boy paused.
"Oh, uh, don't worry about home. Everyone there is safe and stuff. Time is kind of paused while you're here. And you don't have to worry about money or anything here, because...there isn't any. Since, you'll be able to learn magic, it's kind of useless."
no subject
As he was putting his shield back in place, she listened to the rest of what he had to say, her frown deepening for a moment, until he finished reassuring her and mentioned the magic.
"Magic? So ... wait. I'm not dead, am I?" It was a valid train of thought for Lydia: where she was from, only ghosts were capable of magic... unless, as she'd mentioned a moment ago, the proper spells were used.
no subject
That stopped Link short; no one had ever asked him that before. He shook his head. "Nah. Not unless you were dying when you came here, but, you'd still be alive here, and just dead back home. And you'd know."
He chewed his lip and rocked onto his heels for a moment. "People can die here. But, death only lasts about a week, and then they come back."
no subject
"So you don't actually stay dead, here. How does that work with ghosts? I'm ... asking for a friend. Really."
no subject
Link tilted his head, thinking.
"There's a guy here who is a skeleton, he might know. And if he didn't know, I bet Irene would know. I think if you arrived as a ghost, you'd stay a ghost. They might have to Bend back abilities, though. Like maybe they wouldn't be able to walk through walls right away or something."
He smiled slightly. "Are you friends with some ghosts?"
no subject
She glanced at her mirror, giving half a thought to trying to look at whatever he'd sent her from his shield, curious as to what it was, and how it worked. She came from a time before email, after all: even faxes were relatively new. Transmissions like this were the stuff of science fiction movies, and even those weren't exactly her style. All of that went right back to the backburner, though, when he asked about her friends.
"Yeah, two of them. They were haunting the house my family and I moved to, so ... if they got worried about me and tried to find me, I wouldn't want them to get hurt. They ... already almost got exorcised trying to help me once. So it's good to know they'd probably be safe here. ... What do you mean about bending? I mean - they're pretty flexible, I've seen them stretch their faces into some pretty weird shapes."
no subject
"Some ghosts are pretty nice. I've helped a few out before."
Link rubbed his neck. "It's what they call magic here. Bending is--will-power based magic. My adoptive father teaches newcomers, if you have trouble with it, but, really, you just think about, want it, and make it with your mind."
no subject
She paused, trying to think of something she might want to make, to test it out. The chill autumn breeze rippling through the street made her yearn from something warm to drink, and she tried to bend a cup of cocoa, curling her hands around the space it might eventually fill.
To her surprise, the mug appeared - but the cocoa inside was solid, part of it. It still smelled like cocoa, and was still warm on her hands, but completely inedible.
"I think I messed it up."
