"Target practice? Wow. That sounds fun." She's unphased by Mission's strange appearance, just curious. "I don't want to make you late. ... Can I follow you there? I just have some questions, and I can probably find my way back easily enough."

"It's a huge step up from aiming at empty bottles, that's for sure." But answering questions on the way there doesn't sound too bad, and really she doesn't think there's a better introduction to the city than immediately heading over to the West. She shrugs.

"Well, okay. I guess you can come with." Lydia really doesn't look like the type to freak out by anything that's over in the West, but just to cover all her bases Mission holds up a finger to amend the agreement anyway. "As long as you won't freak out about the giant spiders. Screaming makes them angry and then they're way harder to hit."
strangeandunusual: (okay - I believe you)

"Thanks. My name's Lydia, and -" She smiles, eyebrows raising.

"Did you say giant spiders? I've seen a giant snake, before, and a huge, two-headed worm, once, but I've never seen a giant spider." She takes a moment to weigh the possibility of danger against the actual situation, pursing her lips in thought. After a moment, she decides, matter-of-factly: "If they're what you're practicing on, it sounds like I'll be safe enough. I'll just stay out of the way."

"I'm Mission." She doesn't offer a handshake, but as she starts walking off she turns around most of the way to face her with a smile. "And they're not that giant, not really. Only a little bigger than a feathered dog, but a whole lot meaner. They're easy to outrun, though, and my aim's pretty good. So you'll be fine."

Honestly, they're only really a pain when they catch someone off-guard, so she doesn't think there'll be a problem. Besides, Lydia's clearly okay with some level of risk.

"Have you really seen an actual snake before? I've only ever heard stories about them in bars sometimes. I heard their bite can make your arm fall off."
strangeandunusual: (yes I AM actually smiling.)

"I've never seen a feathered dog ... and the dogs I know come in a lot of different sizes." Even a spider the size of a chihuahua would be big, but one the size of a Newfie or a Great Dane? She shudders a little, despite herself. Something like that could bite her head off.

"Yeah, I've seen a bunch of different kinds, especially at the zoo. Not all of the snakes are poisonous, though - some of them are really friendly, and people keep them as pets. I wanted one, when I was little, but my Dad's too afraid of them."

She paused, smiling fondly. "My Dad's afraid of a lot."
