You seem oddly familiar, but the Doctor isn't sure where he might have run into you before. He'll just squint up at the roof Ten is perched on as he talks; he's probably spoken with stranger people in his time.

...no, perhaps not. It was a passing fancy, probably born from the Doctor wanting to see a familiar face in this strange place, however foolish a wish that might be.

Regardless, he still needs to answer Ten's question. Just because he doesn't know who this is is no reason to be rude. Or at least, not any more ride than usual.

"Oh, you know... wandering about, meeting new people, seeing new sights. Saving the odd civilization from annihilation, that sort of thing." Which is a totally normal answer, obviously.
