He won't admit it to his crew, but the curse has made Barbossa consider the choices in his life to some degree. He plans to give control of the Pearl to one of his crew shortly after the curse is lifted, and wants to retire as a landed gentleman, perhaps somewhere off the coast of Spain. 3. His faith in Ragetti gave him a trustworthy, and unlikely, guardian for his Piece o' Eight. 6. Barbossa roamed the seas in Singapore before joining the crew of the Black Pearl, and learned sword fighting techniques from Oriental masters. 7. He anonymously sends a portion of his plunder to his parents, brother and sister in Spain. Knowing his law abiding family would disapprove of his vocation, they also believe him to be dead. 8. One of his most prized possessions is the diary of Cortez. In addition to the potential solution to the Aztec Curse, it is filled with arcane lore of the seas and the locations of many treasures scattered across the former Spanish Empire. 9. In addition to its usual attacks, the cursed Black Pearl often attacks slaver ships, giving the ships to the former cargo. 10.
