[Hogarth grumbles to himself before standing, brushing himself off before calling out.]

Hey! What's the big idea, huh?

[Aang crawls up onto his knees before airbending his capelet back, and then further airbending himself to a standing position. Once he's on his feet he's looking around for the source of the voice.]

Sorry! I didn't see you there, and I haven't gotten all of my waterbending back so...I didn't see you.

Do you need a hand?

Nah I'm...I'm fine.

[Hogarth pauses to dust himself off a bit more before eyeing Aang curiously, tilting his head a bit.]

How....How are you doing that?

[Aang, who is now standing still, looks confused.]

Doing what?

..Whatever you just said that was. Bending.

[Sorry Aang. He's new.]

[He gets it now, and prepares for the PERFECT demonstration of his skill...by airbending a couple of stones up from the ground and spinning them between his two outstretched palms.

It's kind of like the marble trick. Close enough for government work, really.]

You mean this! This is airbending. And...well, I can do it because I'm an airbender.

An airbender, huh..?

[Hogarth raises a brow and leans up against the rock, folding his arms over his chest.]

Can't say I've ever met one before.

[Aang recognizes this behavior as Being Aloof Like Sokka, and he knows it's what you do when you are really interested in something, but you don't want the person you're talking to, to know that you are.]

With a gesture the two rocks go flying in the other direction.

I'm Aang. Soooo, now you have.

...Riiight.

[Well dang, Aang is pretty perceptive because that's exactly how Hogarth is feeling right about now. Regardless, he's still a bit sore about being plowed over.]

I'm Hogarth. ..Maybe next time you can bend away from other people then, huh?

[Aang's wide smile of greeting...well, it slumps somewhat spectacularly at the reminder that plowed someone over.]

Yeeeaaah, sorry Hogarth. It's really kind of foggy here in the Northern District, and...well, you did just kind of appear out of nowhere.

..It's alright. I just didn't think I'd find anyone else out here.

[Hogarth shrugs a little, brushing the last bit of dirt off his sleeve.]

..So...Aang. Have you been here long?

A little while. Not as long as some people, but long enough.

[He gives the area around them a once over, and smiles.]

This is one of my favorite places. The sky just looks so much bigger compared to flat land.

[The boy nods a little in agreement.]

It's...kinda creepy though, don'tcha think? What with all this...weird fog.

[He half shrugs.]

I guess? I'm kind of used to it, to be honest. I grew up in the mountains, and we were usually at or above the cloud line.

What's it like where you're from?

Well....there are definitely a lot more trees. And houses.

[The boy sighs, shrugging too.]

More people too.

Yeah, there aren't a whole lot of people around these parts. You have to go closer to the Central Plaza for more of any of that.

I was kind of looking for less of that, so that's why I came here. Well, that and because this is where I arrived when I first got here.

Mmmm...well that makes sense. I wasn't really lookin for people...I'm actually pretty used to being on my own.

Not me, which is one of the reasons why being here was so weird for me. I've never really been alone before coming here. Always had someone with me at all times, even if that someone was just Appa.

Back home...most of the time it was just me and mom. And mom works late a lot so....I'm home alone a lot.

[Aang would ask where Hogarth's father is, but asking that question too many times back home has only lead to too many answers of, He died in the war.]

I bet you must know some great games then.

Mmm...yeah, I guess you could say I know a couple.

Oh I know lots of games! It's just...most of the ones I used to play with my friends can't really be played anymore.

Though Sokka's taught me some new ones.
