You're in a place called Nautilus. This is gonna be a doozy of an explanation, chief, but you need help first and foremost. We're gonna get you some help, but I'll explain on the way.

[And she reaches out, as if to try to gently guide him into walking alongside her.]

[It would be rude of him to wave her off and he knows it. He's silent for a moment, turning over the new information she had just given him in his mind. He's never heard of Nautilus before. Soul Society, Hueco Mundo, the World of the Living, yes, but not Nautilus.]

I'm fine. It was actually a lot worse then this. Most of it has been healed already.

Sure doesn't look fine. And just to throw you an FYI, chief, if you have any natural healing abilities that you're counting on, here? They're gonna be suppressed in the city for the time being. In fact, any powers you had are gonna be suppressed here for the time being.

That's not what I meant. Before I arrived here, that's what was happening, a friend was healing me.

[He lifts up his arm with the burnt/torn sleeve and curls his fingers. There might still be marks on his arm and his movement slow, but he can move them. Just barely.]

See? This hand was rendered totally unusable before I arrived.

[And he reaches down with the other to press a hand over the wound on his abdomen.]

This... was a lot worse as well, to be honest.

[Her next words have him staring at her.]

Maybe it's better, but that doesn't mean it can't still get infected. And you probably want that hand usable again, right? Call me crazy.

The word 'Bending' has him frowning slightly. He's not liking the fact that these little tidbits of information are being fed to him one by one. It reminds him too much of Urahara.]

And what is Bending?

Bending is the power to literally change reality around you. It's what we all used to get our powers back gradually.

[And this sure is crazy.

Although, to be honest, he's seen and probably heard of crazier, after all, he just got mostly healed by a friend who pretty much rejects the damage done to you.]

Gradually? How long does it take?

[He really has no desire to be powerless again.]

Which I doubt you have one hundred percent of, at the moment.

[He's pretty sure he's had worse, to be honest. There was that time when the Eight Espada and all but effectively shredded his stomach.]

Look, slick, I know that adrenaline's a pretty nutty thing. Pride is, too. But seeing as how you're gonna be here for a while, we can save the questions for later, right?

Although it's rather strange to have someone he's never met before address him as such before.]

[He smirks a little bit at that.]

[And Ishida is going to let her, because honestly? He's not above believing that Irene wouldn't forcefully knock him out and take him by force.]

I'm not entirely sure how it could, to be honest.

You'd be surprised, chief. I know plenty of people are gonna sell this place to you as a paradise for second chances, but we're not the only ones on this playground.

We've got resident psychopaths, reality storms that may or may not turn people into monsters, and of course the city's a sentient being who has a sense of humor you might not find all that funny.

So yeah, have fun with that.

To be fair, the monster thing isn't so much a sure thing as it is part of a crapshoot. The reality storms can literally make just about anything happen, it's not just monsters we get to worry about.
