[Action]
That depends on where here is. Here isn't Night Vale, is it? [He was pretty sure it wasn't, but just in case...!]
Re: [Action]
No, this is Nautilus.
[He paused for a moment.]
Have you had any experience with the supernatural or multiple universes? Otherwise, Nautilus might seem a little hard to believe.
[Action]
[He he hadn't. So, Cecil stomps around again for good measure. It's the only thing he feels like he has control over right now!]
[He calms quikly, though. Adjusting his vest as he looks to the stranger once again.]
I can't say I've had direct experience, no. But I can't say that I haven't either. Or, at least, now I could say I have. [He briefly eyes the Gate.] It doesn't look like the wooden doors that have been cropping up around Night Vale, but I'm not a scientist. Carlos is, if he were here...[Oh, he chokes up a little. Carlos is going to be so worried!]...If he were here, he'd explain it.
[Action]
Caesar looks a bit bewildered by his reaction in general. The stomping around, mostly. He barely registers the way Cecil responds to mentioning Carlos, more registering what came before and Carlos's profession.
He smiles at Cecil, finally deciding on bewildered amusement.]
I might not be Carlos, but I am a scientist. I can try to explain this place to you.
[Action]
Well, if you are a scientist then who am I to argue...
[Action]
[He's both joking and serious: he really does have a lab coat at home.]
[Action]
[He sounds a little skeptical now. More about Caesar being a scientist than waking up in a place inbetween universes, actually.]
Re: [Action]
People show up from other worlds, other times, and alternate universes. Everyone here is capable or will eventually be capable of affecting this place through fhe use of Bending, a mental ability that allows you to warp the reality around you.
[Suddenly, Caesar is holding a cup of coffee in his hand that wasn't there a moment ago. And he is going to ignore that skeptic tone to your voice, Cecil.]
[Action]
So...[The words draws out far longer than it needs to be.] What you're saying is, basically, this isn't Night Vale.
[This is why he leaves the science to Carlos.]
I mean, I pretty much understood that from the get-go but, you know. Someone comes up to you claiming to live in a city between dimensions and what are you supposed to think, right?
[Action]
[Caesar smiles. Cecil's quick enough on the uptake.]
Everyone has a hard time believing it at first. If you need further proof, I could show you around in my mobile lab. The different skylines and districts are pretty good at convincing people.
... By the way, I haven't introduced myself. [You look American and sound it. He reaches out his hand to shake.] I'm Caesar Salazar.
[Action]
[He stares blearily at Caesar's hand for a few beats longer than is socially acceptable. Then grasps it, tone of voice brightening once again.] Cecil Palmer, Night Vale Community Radio.
Re: [Action]
It's a pleasure to meet you, Cecil. ... Coffee?
[He holds up the cup a bit higher to indicate that Cecil can take it if he wants.]
[Action]
I prefer my coffee to be a little less...suddenly tangible. Unless you have already tangible coffee, then that would be alright.
[Action]
I can't really blame you, being new to this place. There's a bar not too far away that also serves coffee, if you want to go there. If you ignore the bartender, it might seem more normal to you.
[You really don't know where he's from, do you?]
[Action]
You know, that seems a little suspicious to me. This gate, and this place, and all of...[He gestures around him, haplessly.] This! With a handy bar not too far by.
You must really rake it in.
[Also, Cecil left his wallet at home and is too proud to mention it.]
