I believe that I am Carlos, but I lack any of my scientific instrumentation to quantify an answer with rigorous scientific methods. It is entirely possible that I am a doppelgänger, considering the fact that I do not remember how I came to be in this place, and I do not know how likely or unlikely that is.

Yes! Wherever here is...I...I'm not too sure, Carlos. I can see a strange skyline and behind me a large gate of some sort. Only it's standing alone and I can't open it. [He thought the doors went to the desert, and this certainly wasn't the desert!]

Oh. I was there about an hour ago. I've been wandering around trying to find a map and listening in to the people that live here.
From what little I know, this place has the potential to be as strange as Night Vale. There's not enough data to confirm that hypothesis, and there needs to be stronger evidence than what little I have now.
... How about I come find you? I can trace my steps back to that spot.
[Audio]
[He'd rather not, it makes him feel so helpless, but surely a scientist would know best.]
Just be careful. Night Vale might be strange but it's not as dangerous as this place. [Cecil's certain of that, because it's a strangeness he's not used to.]

I'll be fine, Cecil. I'm a scientist. You just stay put, and I'll be right there in about ten minutes.
[His voice gets a little.... Deeper? Perhaps that is the right word for it.]
... ... Just think of what we can do together in the meantime while you wait.
[A beat, and then be sounds embarrassed.]
I don't have my emergency kit with me, so ah. Ah. You know....
[Thanks, Carlos. Your mun didn't need go know what you carry around in your pocket "for sudden needs". OTL. A scientist is always prepared.....]

Fine.
[He's making a face. A very grumpy face. He might even be pouting but Cecil stays put, keeping a nervous eye out for Carlos.]

[Carlos is a minute late. A whole minute. Not that he was counting, but Cecil might have been.
The other man isn't looking at him when he arrives and that gives him a few moments to brace himself. Cecil can sometimes be... Enthusiastic about his hugging. He breathes in and out just once, then starts smiling widely as he speaks the only word he needs to speak.]
Cecil.
[His heart is beating faster than it was from the walk over. They're together again. Cecil isn't a mirage. Finally.]
[Action Forevers]
Where was he!?
By the time Carlos arrived, unnoticed, Cecil was muttering quietly to himself. Something about figments of his imagination and complaining he needed to get out of the radio booth more often. As it was, when Carlos broke the silence, the radio host whirls on his heels.
And there he is.
Carlos.
His Carlos.
A few more moments pass, but Cecil doesn't count them. He's only still because he's deciding just how long he's going to hug his boyfriend for. A heartbeat or two passes and then Cecil wraps his arms around Carlos and practically squeaks with joy.]
Carlos! Oh Carlos! I knew you were real!

[Carlos is hugged tightly enough that the heels of his feet briefly leave the ground. He shuffles his feet just enough to be completely on terra firma before hugging Cecil back with equal fierceness.
Using just touch wasn't enough to confirm that it was really Cecil. He could hear him now. He could see him. He could smell his, well, smell. That would have to do. He could confirm taste with a kiss later.
Of course I'm real, Cecil! I have no reason not to be real! And you're real, too.
