Bitty!Ice Bear | We Bare Bears

Morning had come and Ice Bear had vacated the house he'd broken into. He was back on the lookout for anything to tell him where he was. Hoping that maybe he could find his way to one of his brother. That maybe somehow one of them could get their owner to take him in too. But everywhere he walked, there was nothing familiar. He was getting hungry again now, it was almost the afternoon and he was still just as lost as ever. But he wasn't completely sure about approaching anyone. Grizz would have known how to get food from people. He did a good job of it. Ice Bear just followed his lead, but he wasn't here to follow. Which was depressing. Stopping finally, the white cub plopped down where he was and stared up at the sky. He just didn't know what to do now

Nott was heading back home after visting the food market in the south when he saw the bear just laying in the middle of the ground. Or what he thought was a bear anyway. It didn't look as big as he thought bears usually were.

"Uh...Hello?"

Sure it might just be a dumb animal, but they had a cricket that was a person so why not a bear?

Ice Bear turned his head, expecting to see a person talking to another person. But what he saw was completely different. It was a fox wearing human clothes and walking like a human. And he didn't know how to deal with that at all. This was especially clear from the way that his eyes bugged out and he stared silently.

"Oookay..." Nott dragged the word out, trying not to be amused by the bugged out expression. "So, I'm guessing you are self aware and stuff. Can you speak? You got a name?"

Lysander nearly tripped over the little bear, not expecting one to just be sitting in the middle of the path.

"Shit- oh." It looked young. Was it some kind of bear? He looked around, not wanting to get savaged by a pissed off mother, before kneeling and checking it over. "Where's your mother then? cos I don't fancy getting eaten today."

Ice Bear looked up at him, the tag on his collar jingling. He remains silent, though he looks unhappy. On the bright side, there is no mother to maul him since he looks like someone tried to make him their puppy. But the next question was probably who would do that.

Lysander noticed the collar - and couldn't help a little laugh. "Looks like we match, huh?" He tilted his head, showing off the choker he commonly wore. he glanced around again. It looked like there was no-one looking for the little guy, and if they were it'd be on the network eventually. Plus he looked miserable and Lysander didn't want to just leave a young cub looking miserable by itself, regardless whether it was human or other species.

"You probably got someone looking for ya but until then, you wanna come with me?" If Kale could befriend a giant-ass tiger then he could be nice to this - on closer inspect, he had a feeling this was a type of bear cub.

Ice Bear wasn't too sure that he wanted to trust this person. He wasn't having much luck with people. But his stomach growled and he gave a slow nod, his hunger deciding for him. Standing up, he looked up at Lysander to show he was ready. He was no happier, but this was possibly better than nothing.

Upon hearing the stomach growl, Lysander nodded. Okay, little guy was hungry and seemed to understand him. Two steps forward, since he knew one thing he could do. "Fancy something to eat? Dunno what you like but we can pick up something from the market." Bears are carnivores but he can't remember what little white bears would eat. Fish maybe? He led Ice Bear to the closest food shop, to see what he went towards.

Ice Bear followed him without a sound. He wasn't really that picky as long as it tasted good and had meat of course. People food usually did. So he was good with whatever. In this case though, he gravitated toward sushi and easily scaled the counter to get a better look at what he wanted before pointing with a paw. He looked back at Lysander, still pointing.

"You want that?" Sushi? He'd heard of it but hadn't the chance to try it before. It sounded really good. Addressing the worker at the counter, he ordered two portions and handed one to Ice Bear.

Not knowing how to work the chopsticks, Lysander just used his fingers to pop one of the rolls into his mouth. He paused as he tried it, swallowing. "Shit. You've got some good taste!" He complimented Ice Bear. Damn, he was going to need more sushi in his future.

Predictably, Ice Bear didn't answer. He was occupied using his chopsticks to eat. He knew how, despite not having thumbs, and was eating pretty quickly. But he nodded in response to show he was still listening. He liked to think that he had good taste.

"So you're either clever or a quick learner." Lysander observed as Ice Bear flawless used the chopsticks. He still used his fingers. If anyone native to Japan spotted him and took offence then he would apologise and continue eating his food like an animal.

"If you want more just take some. It's all free here."

It wasn't much of a walk, well for most folk, from his house to the main path. A nice bit of a walk for him but nothing to complain about. The normality of it had him glancing around, counting trees and such. So of course, with his typical luck, he bumps straight into something fuzzy.

"Huh?"

He looks up and freezes. Since when do they come in white? "Ah...blaze it..."

A valid question. Right up there with when did they wear cute dog ears and dog collars that said Fabio. And more importantly, when did people come in bug size? Ice Bear had looked down at him, going from miserable to wide-eyed in the time it took him to realize what had bumped into his leg. He sat there, just trying to make sense of this. Because that wasn't natural.

It's not the wee one Jed's worried about. It the mamma that's usually following that has him scared stiff. He knows just how riled a she-bear can get. "Hey, boy...now don't go gittin' yerself in a tizzy." He holds his hands up in peace, "I jus'...weren't seein' where I were walkin'."

He's going to get eaten and this time it's gonna stick, he knows it! Once his panic is subsided, he'll notice the collar and ears. "No need ter git yer Ma out here. Ol' Jed'll jus'...see hisself out."

Well, if he was worried about him making a fuss, there was no risk of that. Not a peep. Instead, Ice Bear reached down and picked him up without the use of thumbs or claws and set him in his free paw. He cocked his head slightly, then sniffed him.

"Hey!!!" Jed sort of wiggled in mid-air, until suddenly there was something solid under his boots? The cowboy blinks and sort of gains his balance before there is a rather cool nose poking at him. He won't smell human that for sure; all wax, paint and leather.

"H-hey, that's tickles...please don't eat me."

No he definitely didn't smell like a person, even though he looked and acted like one. Ice Bear didn't really understand. That, or why he thought anything would eat wax. A hot dog or a granola bar would have been better. But he didn't seem to want to be held, so Ice Bear lowered his paw so that the tiny cowboy could climb down onto the grass at the edge of the sidewalk. That was probably where he was trying to go.

Jed's eyes had snapped shut until suddenly he felt grass around him. Surprised he stumbled as he stepped off, catching himself and looking around. No she-bear...and the little one had let him go?

"Uhm, howdy." Bear? What would you, oh...a collar? Someone had a bear cub as a pet?! "Fabio?" Oh wouldn't Octavius love that.

Well he could hardly tell Jed what real name was, so Ice bear just gave a slight nod and returned his paws to his lap. Still no sound at all, despite Jed having his full attention.

"Well, you're a cute little fellow."

The Once-ler knelt down for a closer inspection. He had just managed to get a bag of jumbo marshmallows at the market, much to his delight. They had worked wonderfully on making friends with the bar-ba-loots back home, but, he had no idea how things worked here yet.

He offered one out in his gloved hand, squeezing it between two fingers.

"Want a marshmallow?"

Staring up at him, Ice Bear wasn't sure what to make of the Once-ler. Or the immediate offering of a marshmallow. But he was hungry and so he accepted it and took a bite. His eyes stayed on the odd skinny human though and he quietly finished the treat without so much as changing his expression.

It was his default with small furry creatures. He liked them, so he saw no reason that anyone or anything else wouldn't. Even the Lorax liked them, so, the Once-ler considered marshmallows to be an essential.

It surprised him that he was actually missing the animals of Truffula Valley. And while a baby polar bear wasn't exactly a bar-ba-loot, there were similarities.

Namely, both were adorable.

"Yep, you're a cute little guy." The Once-ler looked around, pushing his fedora up with his thumb. "Is your family around?"

Marshmallows were good. Not good for bears, but good. And it wasn't like the Once-ler was dealing with a wild animal. Ice Bear didn't consider himself especially cute. That's why he was still wearing his puppy disguise and collar. It had gotten him adopted so maybe it would help here. At the question, Ice Bear shook his head. No family here.
