"Uhm -" Marinette appears taken back by the reaction of the older man and allows his questions to seek in for a second.

"You're in the city of Nautlius. I'm actually not sure about the planet or year part, sorry." she replies with an uneasy shrug.

"Any - other questions?" she adds slowly and awkwardly, giving a shrug.

He scowls. This place is going to be very, very hard for him if he doesn't know the year or planet. Last time a person didn't know the year or planet, he had been on Skaro, facing a very young Davros - creator of his greatest enemies, the Daleks.

There's a slight problem with knowing over five billion languages, sometimes he doesn't know how to interpret different words. They all have different meanings as they run through the various languages in his head.

"'Nautilus.' So, are we all sailors, then or is the creature who brought us here a sailor?"

Marinette gives a soft giggle and shakes her head.

"Uh no, sir. We aren't sailors and so far I haven't met any sailors. This city is just named something like that. I don't know who named it, but it is pretty mysterious, but beautiful in its own way." She adds with a shrug looking around her and then back to him.

"My name is Marinette Dupain-Cheng. What's yours?"

The Doctor smirks. People have weird ideas about what's mysterious.

"Good to meet you, Marinette. I'm the Doctor."

He extends his hand for her to shake.

She takes his hand in a firm hand shake, probably firmer than her size would indicate.

"Very nice to meet you, Doctor."

Again - just the doctor. Not so weird - wait, it is weird. It's actually very weird. When she released his hand, she tilts her head at him slightly.

"I'm sorry to ask, sir, but - what kind of doctor are you?"

He is slightly surprised at her grip, but it's good to know too. Currently in this place, everyone is an enemy until they prove themselves otherwise and it's always good to know your enemies abilities.

He can't help the slightly dorky grin that makes a very short appearance. He has always loved this bit.

"Practically everything."

He shrugs. More or less answers her question.

"But -" she begins confused, "I don't understand. We have a doctor who says the same thing, but there can't be two of you, can there?"

Its more of a question to herself. There were so many other worlds out there and really infinite impossibilities of how many different people there would be in anywhere else.

"Do you have a blue police box, too?"

When she beings with 'I don't understand', the Doctor plainly answers, "I don't blame you."

Pudding-brains rarely understood anything. But since he had already met his younger self, he could answer the question.

"There's not two of me. We're the same person. I'm just... a great deal older than him."

And with an entirely different face and very different personality, but they're still the same man. Which means, it's not a 'police box, too', it's the same box.

She blinks when he speaks with her and tilts her head at him. She thinks for a moment and looks him over.

"Can I- may I- hmm - may I check something on you?" She asks hesitatingly. Unsure of how to ask anyone really if she could listen to his heart beat. If he had two heart beats like The Doctor then - Nautilus was really pulling out all the stops.

He pulls a slight face. Usually that question leads nowhere good.

"Depends what you want to check..."

Because she could just ask. That would involve no touching.

"Well - this is weird, but The Doctor I know has two hear beats." She holds up two fingers.

"I found out when I hugged him."

[not_the_question]

The Doctor nods.

"I'm not a hugging person now. But I do have a Bi-Vascular system."

He holds out his wrist and if she permits him will show her how to take his pulse. Because that will involve the least amount of touching. He'll even make the conscious decision to slow down his hearts rate so she can feel all four beats, before they repeat.

"Like so..."

She follows the instruction easily, devoting to memory that this doctor is not a hugger. She is silent as she feels the beats and then looks up at him excited.

"You are The Doctor! Wow!" She gasps amazing taking a small step back and cupping her hands to the side of her face, "That's amazing ! But how? How does that happen? Is it just something you do? How are you so different?"

"I did say that, yes."

He can't resist fans. He smirks rather than beaming full-on. Because after deleting himself from history, it makes for a nice change to be recognised.

"We... have a trick of cheating death, but the process rewrites every cell in our bodies. Come out with different faces, likes, dislikes, and personalities."

"Wow!" She gasps and walks around him then stands in front of him again.

"So you can't die? Or - you die in a way but not completely?"

He frowns slightly. And his voice goes soft. Very soft.

"We can die."

He has... hundreds of billions of times.

"But, regeneration can save our lives."

She covers her mouth in shock when he speaks, but lowers her hands when he adds on. This doctor was different and it was amazing and sad all at the same time.

"So... something happened to the Doctor I know and you came because of it?"

It was a horrifying thought. He could go away. Like a human but at the same time not.

"No. Something happened to the man you recognise as the Doctor and another man came. I came after him."

Since Ten really doesn't like Twelve, it's an important distinction.

"And each time this - whatever happens, another one completely different comes? Do you have any of his memories?" she asks curiously.

It would make sense. At least a degree, but she wanted to make sure.

[not_the_question]

"Yes. And Yes. I'm the same man, just look different. That said - I have no recollection of this place. And if he's here, I should, which means this place.... doesn't exist."

Not in the normal sense, anyway.

"Oh no. It's real. Trust me. Think of it as another plane of existence." She adds with a smile and a shrug.

"It's kind of - well, weird honestly. But since you're The Doctor I'm sure you've experienced much weirder things."

"I've been to many different planes of existence.... None of them ever resulted in my senses being taken from me."

Which means he's not going to accept this as 'real' anytime soon.

"We are surrounded by chaos energy. So that might have something to do with it." She adds with a shrug.

"It causes all sorts of weird things to happen. Like bending and the storms."

[not_the_question]

He shakes his head. "I'll need proof before I'll accept anything like that."

Because he's the Doctor and that's how he rolls.

"You will. Before your first month is over here, you should experience your first storm. I did." She reassures him, confidently.
