"I think though, if Kalliste and Helix, that's the other main cities people hang out at -- are awakened, or whatever, then they don't dig the chaos as much and maybe it makes them more boring." A shrug.
no subject
He slides her phone back. He runs his hand through his hair.
"I... I think I'm suffering from overload."
no subject
She hums, and resists the urge to rub his temples for him. "Since when does the Doctor read guides on planets he visits anyway? Just come live it with me!" Clearly the best solution. Clearly. "And then you can see for yourself."
no subject
Though, to be fair, that could be because his time sense is dead.
"You don't want to hang out with an old Time Lord like me. Not when you've got that younger version..."
Who's a much better fit with her.
no subject
"Come on, Doctor," she grinned, wolfishly and cheerfully, and stubbornly refusing to let go of his hand still. "Let's run."
She should have left it at that. SHE WANTED to leave it at that, but she couldn't resist poking a joke, all the same, "And if you're too old now, you may hobble."
She could accept that crossing his own path backwards in time would be catastrophic and that she was, after all, only born in 1986, but she'd never stop wanting to protect and help the Doctor, in any incarnation, and that was just how it was.
no subject
"Stop holding my hand, people don't do that to me."
He more or less twists his hand until it's free.
"Besides, I am quite capable of running without the hand-holding."
And with that, he flashes a grin and takes off. She might notice some differences, though. He's more purposed in his running. And it's, sort of safer than what she might be used to. And of course, there's the lack of hand-holding.
no subject
But she laughed and chased after him, trying to catch up, and just happy to be in motion.

The Doctor weaves his way through the book shelves and towards the exit. He's not as agile as his younger self, so Rose can probably keep up. Once outside, he picks a random direction. But not knowing where he's going, he stops before he gets too far in any specific direction.
He takes a moment or two to catch his breath. Literally, it only takes a breath or two and his breathing is back to normal. That said, Rose might have been distracted from his hand-clapping, but it never stopped.
"So, how's that for hobbling, Rose Tyler?"
no subject
"Come on Doctor, I'll show you Big Ben, and the bridges, and the cybertron places, and Azmuth's tower from the outside, and then we can go through to the other cities, if you don't wear out from old age first." She stuck her tongue out, clearly not believing he was in danger of any such thing.
no subject
But he suspects he has to believe this world is the real world first and he's not ready for that.
"Cybertron? What's that?"
Okay, Rose Tylor, you have his attention.
no subject
"Don't worry!" She holds up both hands. "They're not Cyberman. I know, sounding like that..." She shivered, though it wasn't at all cold out.
"Um, Dead End is really funny. He was the first one to give me Irene's guide, and everyone said he was okay. But some of them aren't so good? They're giant transforming robots." She nods, half hoping to be able to surprise the Doctor with this knowledge. "Oh! And -- there's some non-Cybertron robots, um, but AM and GlaDOS I was told to super avoid, so I am. Apparently they like to use the no-dying thing to hurt and torture people here..." She was saying about not all the robots being bad though? "I guess the Cybertron have a whole planet with people like them, and there was a war," which reminded her of the Time War, "And their architecture is really neat." A shy grin, "Does that mean you've never seen their world?" She is all but a happy wolf pup wagging her tail at the idea of being able to tell the Doctor about someplace he'd never seen before. Even if it was only by proxy.
no subject
"What... do they transform into?"
Because Rose is really only giving him half the information here.
no subject
no subject
Because well, he's seen humans transform into wasps and back, so it's not that weird. And that was on Earth, with a human-hybrid.
He'll get to the science stuff later. Right now, he needs to assess safety.
no subject
Oh boy.
"Maybe it'd be better if you met one yourself." She hadn't expected him to be as overprotective as his younger self, though really, REALLY she should have. Although it did sort of indicate that it wasn't the month in Nautilus that had made his younger self like that, but probably whatever happened to Rose... and that... she very much doubted was something she could fix.
Still, she flipped over her phone again, and pulled up the video to show him various entries by Dead End, and others. "This is Dead End," she showed him, "See? Car. But he's funny! Very sarcastic. Reminds me a bit of you when you're grumpy. So even more you like this, yeah?"
She scrunched her cheek to the side. The Doctor (younger) had said he would make her a picture database of Rassilon and those she had to be wary of; all the Master's incarnations, and such, but she didn't have it yet, so... She just needed to remember to ask about the others in Nautilus she should avoid too. And then she could add to it maybe. 'Dangerous Persons Database.' And she'd stick her dalek doodle from when she thought River was the Master (long story, don't ask) and thus had a mental image of the Master scaring even daleks into a fussy mode like the robot from Lost In Space - resulting in the comic: on the front.
"Don't know what AM looks like though. And Deadpool, I know I'm supposed to be careful around him, but he's just got anger issues from being cooped up," a look at the Doctor. She was not suggesting that Deadpool was anything like the Doctor, no sirree. She was however, suggesting that the Doctor might be able to empathize with the masked assassin all the same. Besides, he kept meeting assassins, a bunch of whom randomly felt protective of Rose for reasons she was oblivious to as always. "Anyway, he said Ring, or Rang, has dramatic eyebrows and needs to be pestered more. But I don't know if he was just being an arse and trying to get people into trouble or actually friends with the other one."
She snapped her fingers. "Oh! But the architecture!" She tried to flip through to find a picture, past the map, and the outside of Azmuth's tower, and frowned. "Oh, I don't have one..." she was disappointed, but perked up, "Remind me to take one, yeah?"
no subject
Though, it probably has a lot to do with being disconnected from the TARDIS and his lack of time sense.
"So, these cybertrons, turn into cars and other vehicles, but they're... people. Well. People-ish. And most of them are nice, except for the ones who are murdery."
He wonders if Rose knows that most of this information is not as helpful as she thinks it is. The photos are cool though and the Doctor has to stop himself from trying to grab at the phone to look at them.
no subject
Sorry Doctor, she got mostly As in school, but you know the one class she got Ds in?
Guess.
Yes, it was science.
In any case, she gives him her phone, to let him look through her pictures.
"At first I thought it was you who updated my phone like this. I was a little spooked to find out it wasn't, but I guess it's sort of like MySpace for this place, yeah?" MySpace... Rose thinks she's so clever with her much outdated 2007 references. At least it's not breaking the time space continuum on tumblr.
no subject
He doesn't know what 'myspace' is. Sorry, it got deleted. "Or Facebook."
Because clearly it's something with the internet and he knows Facebook. Not much else, though.
"As long as they don't expect me to use it... Should be fine."
no subject
"Face-what?" Just remember, Rose never even got to have her own computer, she always had to borrow Mickey's, on the few occasions they were back home.
"Ummm..." she bit her bottom lip, "Sorry Doctor, it's kind of automatic. You don't have to, I guess, but it helps to talk to people. And if you want to meet them without running around to meet them all face to face, and some of them don't like to be interrupted. Like Azmuth." She walked in on his failed science experiment. Even if that wasn't her fault, but the other Doctor's, but still. A pause. "Besides, don't you want to see --" Okay... she had absolutely nothing for this. The accidental embarrassing moments people hadn't meant to show? Nope. That he very much would not care to observe. The robots being-- err... whatever they did? Probably better in person. Oh wait! "The storms? Apparently when they affect everyone, lots of people post about it, so you can see the effects, even if people try to stay inside, or get turned into animals and can't talk." Well, Rose thought it was interesting, anyway. She chewed her bottom lip again. "Okay, you don't have to use it." He would if he wanted to so that was good enough.
no subject
Well, that said, he does have a very specific post he will be making. Though most will probably find it boring.
no subject
She almost reaches for his hand again, but then just grins impishly. "Yeah, but talking to people not in person means they won't be inclined to invade," leans in just a couple inches away from him and drops her voice accidentally seductively, "Your close personal space."
no subject
"If these eyebrows don't keep them away, not much will."
His pursed lips expression says it all, really: 'Rose, stop trying so hard.'
"Technology has its uses. But, it's too easy for people to hide behind it."
no subject
The sad part is, she really isn't trying at all. WELL, A LITTLE! But mostly just to make him laugh.
"Gee, I can't think of anyone who would do that!" Mocking him, clearly. "Daleks, cybermen, slitheen, living plastic, Holy Jagafress of whatever, Nope, I'm sure none of them would use tech to pretend to be something they're not. And certainly not old Time Lords with attack eyebrows. Never would use tech to get away with something, yeah?" Sorry Doctor, she really can't help it.
She snaps her fingers suddenly. She hadn't wanted to tell his younger counterpart, especially not in the overprotective state he was in, but older Doctor seemed enough more distant that it might be fine. "If I ask you to check out a thneed, can you tell me what it is? So far it seems like a bundle of yarn, so it might not be mechanical, but it looks fuzzy and soft, and I might want to wear it, but not if it's something disturbing." Because it would be so like Rose to put a living chinchilla on herself and watch them multiply like tribbles.
no subject
Wait, she's describing it. So, he thinks about it. And it's just a 'thing' well, that was descriptive.
"Umm, sure, I can scan it with my specks, if you want."
Because that's what he has now. Sonic Specks.
