He finally spotted the person approaching, sizing her up at a glance. Being short meant little when it came to power, and he was appropriately guarded.

Demyx however, was not looking for a fight.

Instead he raised his arm and offered a cheerful wave and smile.

[A small chuckle rumbles in his chest.]

Yes, it would seem that way.

Though I have not heard of any place called Nautilus, I should like to hear of it, if you should have the words. I would be immensely grateful for the service.

Amrael paused in his tracks as the new mortal approached. His expression retained its bright curiosity; slate gray eyes that were deep but kind looking her over.

Seeing as how he hadn't Bended back his telepathy just yet, he opted to speak aloud and in the tongue of mortals.

"Hello. I am a stranger on this land, but I promise you that I mean you no harm."

With that, he held up a pair of large, broad hands to show that he wasn't armed.

Actually, for this cat, that wasn't such a bad question.

"I'm going to. But without the rope how will you fling me, and how will you pull me back?"

She shifted things around, working off the tension provided by his holding the handle end of the string.

"Building a new death ray."

She held up what looked like it could be the leg of a spider, if spiders were nearly as tall as people. "I figured I could use some parts of the construct that almost ate me to make a more effective death ray than the one I had before!"

She sounded a little too gleeful and not at all sane as she stated winding the spider leg around the taut string.

"Pull a little harder," she said, frowning at the string.

She was going to regret asking, she just knew it.

"And why in this moment are you so happy? You've been ripped from your world with no way to get back, it is possible that no one else you know is here, and if you had any powers, you no longer have them. What in that is there to be happy about?" She sounded curious, and she could have been listing the kinds of fish in the pond for all the emotion she put into it.

"It is a highly magical world, but not everyone here is from a world that is. I am." He stuck his staff into the ground and it stood there. He offered his now free hand. "I am Clef, of Ceiphro."

She nodded a bit, relaxing ever so slightly. "You are new?" she asked. Not that she had met everyone, by far, but she was alright with being told she was wrong. She was used to it, honestly. And it wasn't like she had money, or lives, riding on being right this time.

That was a lot of information all at once that was promptly filed away for further investigation. He hadn't considered checking to see if his powers were working. His smile never wavered.

"I'm standing here looking at a beautiful lake. That's enough isn't it?"

Demyx ran down her checklist as he processed it. "A break from work sounds nice, actually. I'm not sure who I should be concerned about seeing here."

"If you mean am I from around here or not? Then yeah, I'd say I'm new. I'm just visiting though, probably. I have to get home again sometime." Demyx said, still placidly passive.

"Everyone's got work to do, don't they?"

"Clef is shorter and easier to say." Demyx chuckled lightly and held out his hand, shaking it.

"I'm Demyx. Yeah, you could call me Demyx." At least, he didn't think there were explicit rules about not giving his name. He rarely got to talk to people, as opposed to being a figure in the shadows.

"Are there a lot of visitors to this world then? That's pretty weird. It's hard to go from world to world, isn't it?"

"I don't think a death ray is very effective...is it?" He watched what she was doing with a mild interest, but he had no idea what he was looking at or what to follow along with. He had coworkers who were far better at interpreting that kind of information than he was. No doubt Vexen or Zexion would know about death rays and their effectiveness, as well as the likelihood they would be possible.

"That looks like some kind of bug part. I'm not sure how that will help with machines?" He sounded mildly confused but did as she asked, pulling the string tighter.

"Can't you swim?" Demyx asked, as if that was the most obvious flaw in the plan.

"Besides, I'm not entirely sure you want to bet on my throwing skills." He flushed, it wasn't the way his weapon worked. He was much better with a blunt instrument.

"I think most people use the stick to catch fish, not to go flinging cats into lakes."

Blarg, the eye colour char doesn't have an entry for Aerians. Pretty sure grey is worried/upset >.<

She took in his eye colour and nodded, eyes flicking mostly between his eyes and the height of his wings, though she remained aware of the rest of him and their surroundings.

"We all are, as near as I can tell. Sorry, just never saw an Aerian so tall. Are you from the Southern Stretch?"

Tall or not, it was good to have a familiar race from home, at least. Of course, as humans weren't native to her world, neither were Aerians, so he could be one and still be from somewhere else. She really hated magic.

She looked at the lake. "I suppose it is," she said after a long moment. It was, really.

"I suppose you could see this as a vacation if you wished."

She gave a rude snort. "If you know how to get us back home, by all means, share."

She wanted desperately to get back to work. She'd settle for being on the way to the West March again.

He shook the hand, then tilted his head ever so slightly, giving him a somewhat odd look.

"No one has explained it to you, then? You best sit, this might be a lot to accept at once. But very nearly everyone here is from another world. But we aren't visitors. We are hear, each of us, for a reason."

"If it wasn't effective, it wouldn't be called a death ray!" she said with a mad little laugh. She used the tension to snap the leg into three pieces, and started pulling the hairs off of one of the pieces until she was left with a more or less smooth rod. She used the string tension again to break it smaller and fit the smaller rod into what she was building.

"Spider. The legs have the tensile strength I need to support the charge unit. Screwdriver!"

The small watch thing handed her one obediently, and she used it to screw a screw into the leg. It didn't matter that there was no hole. The madness gave her a boost of strength while she worked. Always did.

"I can't swim and carry a fish." Duh. "You just have to launch me, then hold onto the stick and pull me back when I have one."

[REALLY FUCKING THICK SCOTTISH ACCENT.]

So you just fucking decided to walk into water for not fucking apparent reason?

"Well, can't you just go back the way you came?" Demyx asked, as though that was entirely obvious, but demonstrating portals for strangers seemed like a bad idea.

He did not choose to sit, but gestured Clef to continue all the same. This sounded like it was some version of Traverse Town.

"For a reason?" Demyx echoed the most obvious question to him. "I don't know what reason I'd be here, except for work...which judging on this place, I'd guess I got lost or something."

"If I'm unable to leave for a time, I'll take it like that." Demyx answered, still processing the thought.

If he had up and vanished, the Superior was going to be pissed. There would be consequences. He didn't really care for consequences.

"There really isn't anyone at home to miss, so you don't have to worry about my well-being or anything." He said thoughtfully. There weren't that many of them left, for as close as they could be called.

[Somewhere along the shore, there was a small shack with a deck. On the deck, someone was laying on a long chair holding a hot beverage in one hand.]

Oi! [He gave a shout to the newbie. The guy looked a little shady to Franky, but hey, maybe he needed to loosen up or something. Franky doesn't judge, too much.]

You can't enjoy the water with that leather bro. Take it off.

[Was Franky telling him to strip? Maybe.]

"Uh, right now it doesn't look like it can kill anything." Demyx pointed out, still holding whatever it was he was holding taut.

"Why a spider?" Also, spiders were kinda gross, especially seemingly giant ones.

Demyx had no idea what he was watching exactly, but it was odd. Definitely odd.
